Ok I thought this was a simple fix but the speedometer cable broke on yesterday's ride, it is the new to me 77convert, I took the cable off the speedometer and removed the knurled? nut off the trans, move the rear wheel and it will spin there but not up top, so somewhere in the housing it broke, my question is how to remove it at the transmission? Is there a trick to it? I have not touched the nut that goes into the trans, sorry for the long question but I could not find anything about this that seemed so simple to replace and I don't want to remove that nut and something goes wrong. Thanks for any advice.Bruce
Try giving the knurled nut and extra 1/2 turn with your tongue sticking out …I’ve fixed a broken vert speedometer that way…just check before purchasing a new one
Ok so I've had the cable soaking in aero kroil for a day or better and grabbed my pliers and gave it a tug and nothing so I gave a little harder tug and nothing, so I gave it a almighty tug and it let loose and I almost smacked my face with the pliers. LOL Bruce
Well I finally got the cable in and put it on and it works like it should, no more bouncing around 5mph back and forth, I adjusted the neck bearings and no more head shake at 65 plus, now I'm going to replace the old Dunlop 404s .I think I have a keeper Bruce
