Hello
I'm replacing my rear signals (front ones too but havent gotten there yet) on my 99 V11 Bassa.
I got some help from the link below on what signals to get. But I'm having trouble from the get. The wiring for my signals doesnt seem to match the way I can wire the new signals in. Existing are three wire lights. I ended up with two wire replacements. And the existing wires are a lot more interwoven with their connections. Attached are some pics.
Any advise would be appreciated

The universal "Vulcan" lights I used on mine had both a 12v + wire,and a ground wire. The ones you have use the mounting bolt as ground. Not a problem,you have 2 wires running to each signal from the bikes harness, where they plug in, find the ground wire, and hook up an extension of wiring going from it to a ring connector you can place under the washer of the mounting bolt, then connect the "hot" + wire to the existing wire on the light. You can also solder a wire to a washer to use as ground at the light mount.

Thats a 2 wire direction indicator in the second picture, the plastic chrome doesn't conduct electricity.
The Stop/tail lamp is 3 wire.
The common wire to terminal (2) on the schematic takes the place of ground aka chassis.

My lights dont appear to each have two wires going to the harness.
The left light connects to the harness behind the tail light with one wire. One
Left turn signal.
1. To harness behind turn signal
2. Across to right turn signal
3. Back towards front of bike
Right turn signal
1. Across to left turn signal
2. Back toward front of bike
3. Back toward front of bike

Looks to me like there are two black wires+ a green wire going to the left signal. And two black wires + one pink going to the right, correct?
IMPORTANT: These instructions assume that neither of the blue wires of your new signals is electrically connected to the metal stud that sticks out of the the signal light. I'm 99% sure they don't connect. But unless you know 100% for sure, check with a multimeter set to ohms. You want to see infinite resistance from each blue wire to the stud. Another way to test is with a nine volt battery. First touch both wires to the battery to make sure the lamp lights. Then touch the metal stud to one battery terminal and touch one blue wire to the other terminal. Then keeping the stud on the battery, try the other blue wire. The lamp should not light in either case. If neither way lights, you're good to go. If the lamp lights, you can still use these lights, but it's bit more complicated. Sorry for the long paragraph, but better safe than sorry.
On your bike, the black wires in the taillight area are all connected together and then out to a bolt on the frame. In other words, the black wires are all ground wires.
So,
For the new left signal: Connect the two black wires to one blue. and the green to the other blue. (Doesn't matter which blue goes to the blacks.)
For the new right signal: Connect the two black wire to one blue and the pink to the the other blue. (Again, it doesn't matter which blue goes to the blacks.)

Just connect two black wires to one blue for the left signal . and the single black wire to a blue for the right signal.

Just occurred to me that the new signals might be both signal and parking light? Take the bulb out and see it it has two center terminals, instead of one
centered on the bottom of the lamp.

I see that, now that I zoomed in. 2 wire connection indeed. Thanks for correcting that Roy.

Just connect two black wires to one blue for the left signal . and the single black wire to a blue for the right signal.
Ok. One more time. Hopefully.
New signals have a Green (NG) and a Blue wire (NB)
Old left has two black and a green/black
Old right has two black and a pink.
What goes to what? :)

"I see " said the blind man. Sorry, I didn't notice that the new signals had different coloured wires. Simplifies things.
For left signal:
Two blacks to new green. Green/black to new blue.
For right signal:
Two blacks to new green. Pink to new blue.

All right. I swapped the left as directed. New blue to green/black and new green to two blacks.
Signal works! Break running light comes on. But break light doesnt come on when pressed.....
What might I have done?
I havent replaced the right signal yet.

Nevermind. I got it! When inturned the engine on it started working. And still worked after I did the right light. Thanks for all the help!
Front lights will be next weekend
