Title: Barn find
Post by: Phil/TX on August 04, 2020, 10:06:46 AM
Yep I could call it a barn find as the extra part was in the barn. 2004 Breda 750. With one extra part, and that was a complete engine.

This sounds interesting, is current motor trashed? Pretty good find.

Actually the current engine runs great, but I’m sure a valve adjustment, fuel injector sync, and spark plugs will help.
Only have had half a day to work on it, that consisted of a good wash, removed the huge wind screen, put on some bar end mirrors. After the wash, I discovered that there was not one scratch on the paint, a little wax and like new. Still lots of things to go through, it will be my C-19 project.

Peter, that’s not a fair question, as I might want to sell it one day. I’ll just say it was a fair price.

How do you like that muffler?  It should sound really basso profundo.  :thumb:

The mufflers got to go, for me they just don’t look right. Took her for a 40 mile ride today, EFI light is intermittent, will check wire routing when I pull the tank for new air filter, also put some fresh gas in it, I think when I run a few tanks through it it should smooth out.

There is nothing wrong , with selling a bike for a profit, after you detail it,and get it all sorted out, and running like it should. Thats why folks pay more for a bike that is "turnkey" as opposed to a fixxer upper.
Rick.

Nice pipes. Like the ones i got from ebay $95. I got the local exhaust place to make up some extensions for the headers so i could use the original exhaust bracket. Now just waiting for heat shields to arrive to hide the join.

Hi Tex.

I'll be doing a build thread when I'm a little further along, but briefly,
I used the plastic V& tank, because it has the fuel pump  at the back (the steel ones have it mounted on the side, up front.)and I just transplanted the Breva pump.
The posts that hold the forward tank rubbers had to be shortened by about an inch each side because the V7 tank is narrower.

(https://i.ibb.co/HK0NnBn/20190615-120510.jpg) (https://ibb.co/HK0NnBn)

The coils had to be relocated under the spine of the frame, cos the Breva tank is narrower in that section... This is a before pic. I'm pointing at the bit that hits the tank.....

(https://i.ibb.co/gtVBFgH/20190615-122442.jpg) (https://ibb.co/gtVBFgH)

The triple clamp's handlebar riser bolt housing had to be ground down so it doesn't hit the tank....

(https://i.ibb.co/m8p9n29/20200624-204138.jpg) (https://ibb.co/m8p9n29)

In this pic you can clearly see the rubber and the nut holding the risers. Normally it is hidden in the tube......

The front of the seat had to be cut down and re-shaped to fit the tank. (Still a work in progress, I'll consult the upholsterer to make sure I've put enough fibreglass on the seat pan for him to have enough to work with...)

(https://i.ibb.co/rZPYrcw/20200802-214127.jpg) (https://ibb.co/rZPYrcw)

and the bottom of the seat was cut in line with the frame to accomodate the Le Mans sidecovers....
I also cut down the footrest hanger plates and polished them up to make room for the sidecovers. This is what it looked like on sunday. Still riding it during all these mods..
