$50 seems like a realistic offer for that. Hell the cost of the dumpster to heave all the fiberglass in will cost $200.

I'm no expert on T3s, but it seems to me that this bike is one disc (at least since I couldn't see the rear) short of being a T3. Also, it is one ugly bike! You did really dodge a bullet on this one, unless you have a large stash of useable parts in your garage or basement! Once in a great while I have the urge to do what you did - put in a ridiculously low offer on something - but thankfully sanity prevails before I pull the trigger on the bid. On the other hand, I don't seem to have much resistance to overpaying for parts that I really do need, unfortunately!

Well, Huzo, the difference is fence post is the holy grail and this one's a lowly T. Maybe the T is more valuable over there, but here they're pretty common, and you've got to calculate what it takes to bring it back compared to buying one in already decent condition. Here the difference between a V7 Sport and T is about fifteen thousand bucks. But you knew all that. Right?

The V7 Sport thing is only worth more because enough people say so. Why has a Ducati Darmah skyrocketed but a 916 has not...?
If everyone decided overnight that a V7 was worth 2,000 bucks, then suddenly it is. Case in point is a GS1000 Suzuki that I sold for 3 weeks pay in 1985, is now worth 3 months pay, it’s all artificial.
I think the T3 is worth more because it has captured the heart of our buyer, not for some superficial dollar value reason.
Just as an exercise..
What is the “value” of my Norge ?
I’ll give you a clue.. If the shed was on fire, I’d push the Norge out before the V85 and the new one owes me 30 grand..

The T had the worthless side stand. The T-3 had the police style side stand that you could park on everything but quick sand.
I know the t-3 had an air filter as I owned one. If memory serves me, I thought the T did not have the air filter.

You're both right, for different reasons. Another way to look at it is "worth" vs. "value." What it's "worth" is in the eyes of the specific buyer who's willing to pay for it despite what others say is a "good price" or what the owner's emotional attachment is . It's "value" is a more objective evaluation of what the local, regional or even world market says it is. "Worth" contains a boatload of the owner's, or prospective buyer's, emotional baggage as it applies to the bike. "Value" is a bit more objective, although emotions clearly play a part when functionally superior bikes are less "valuable" than certain other similar bikes.

30-40 years go I bought plenty o' Brit bikes in that condition, but something big was always broken.

I had a friend who let his 75 Goldwing get like that. It had an electrical problem he couldn't fix himself, & he was too stubborn & cheap to pay someone else to fix what he was convinced was a "$10 parts problem", so it sat in his back yard until the engine froze. He finally gave it to the son of a friend of his, who planned to turn it into a planter/yard ornament out in the country. He also had an old Jag XK-120 that was in similar shape, but he did, with a little help once or twice from me, at least get that back on the road after it had sat in his father's garage for years and years, and sold it to someone who cared.

stock T-3 has the same sidestand as a T, at least mine did. Floor board model had the monster side stand.

Just because they asked $3850 doesn't mean a sucker actually gave it to him! Two to three hundred sounds about right if it doesn't require shipping.

I think that $350 was a generous offer. I have first hand knowledge that it costs money to take a fibreglass boat hull to the bulky waste recycling center...

I was perusing eBay after a late night out and put a low-ball offer on an EV, mainly because it was a color I always liked. It naturally didn't meet reserve and I recall telling myself to not do things with multiple Rob Roys speaking to me.... Some days later, I rec'd an email from eBay that I had won the EV auction (!). I'd half forgotten the episode by that time. The seller had lowered his reserve in the meantime and I was now the proud owner! Yikes! I had just indulged in an expensive German camera that day and feeling a bit flummoxed for the impulsive purchase and now I had another thing to scratch up scratch for!
