I am convinced that there is no Guzzi out there that I want more than my Norge and it’s been fun playing with my trail bike. There are certainly “better” bikes than my Norge but I’ve not been tempted to go behind her back and play up. Last time I did that it cost me a house...!
But here’s the thing.
Although there isn’t one that’s tempted me to leave, I have been been guilty of keeping my head straight ahead but looking sideways...(a bit like when you see something fetching while your partner is with you..).
Here’s the question..
If you could swap your favourite bike with one owned by a CURRENT forum member and never sell it, which one would it be ?
I have thought about it a fair bit before posting this and I have my #1.
There are many lovely bikes owned by our members worthy of a #2 pick, but for me the #1 bike I would crawl through a mile of shit and broken glass for is Dave Swanson’s V11 Sport.
If I was going to stray, it would be for that beauty.
I do admit that there was a certain amount of frustration that needed to be “taken in hand” over the Ewan McGregor Greenie, but I wouldn’t crawl over Dave’s bike to get to it.
Just one request before you ship it to me Dave..
Can I keep my wheels ?
ps. guys and girls...Just ONE.. Although a group thing might be nice..
-
I'd consider swapping for Chucks Aero Lario, that's the most bad ass sounding small block ever. And I'm not even a small block kinda guy.

Ok mate.. What if he rang you..NOW..!

Chuck will be keeping the AeroLario..

That's great Huzo! I had a feeling it might be the V11S
For some reason I like this photo in the van after I made the deal, and knowing it was mine, all mine!

HHmmm, Chuck's bikes are sounding popular.
Every time I read Pete or Chuck describe how evil the mighty Scura is, I have this longing to twist that throttle,
-
Never saw it in person, but Greg Field's Super Eldo would be my pick. Breathed on engine, super suspension, brakes, alternator, end to end improvements. I'd rather have one like that than any new Guzzi.

Just slightly out of bounds mate, but not by much.
Needs to be owned by a current WG member and achievable. Suffice to say that there has to be some conceivable way a deal could be struck.

Vintage V7 Sports from the early 70's in this condition now go for $15,000-$20,000 and that is way out of my league, unfortunately...

Well I'm pleased to have a couple of popular bikes, sadly neither are up for swaps  For me I'd love a Dondolino or Condor, but if we class those outside of achievable can anyone show me a nice US spec Eldorado loop, possibly with all the police bling on it?

Gentlemen: Since Huzo hasn't pointed it out yet, you only completed half of your assignment. Please indicate the bike you're willing to give up to get the one you want.
Still not sure if I'd be willing to give up any of mine due to the amount of blood, sweat and treasure invested...

It’s a funny thing now you mention it.
If Dave Swanson lived in Oz and offered to swap his V11 Sport for my Norge, I’d politely decline and obviously they are a long way apart anyway.
Even if he offered the same deal on my v85, I still wouldn’t do it.
I’m very happy with both of mine, but for an illicit affair...?
#1. Dave’s bike.

QUOTE: What achievable Guzzi would you “stray” for..??
OK - If I did not already have my '98 Centauro GT...I might stray for something like this...
Still at the Guzzi dealer in Prescott, AZ... :thumb:
I think it could be had for $5000 $$ CASH $$, and it is a "turn-key" example in EXCELLENT condition... :thumb: :thumb:

I would part with my 72 Eldorado for a pre war 500 single, not picky on the model, just want to ride a girder front end bacon slicer.
-
...(a bit like when you see something fetching while your partner is with you..).
Of course I won't admit to any urge to stray.........
Maybe, if I could use Chuck's or Dave's V11 for some weeks, I wouldn't return to the Griso?
It's just that that Griso motor is such a gem......

Lovely bike JJ but it would have to be a Guzzi single!
My 72 Eldo, forks converted to FAC dampers, dual disc brakes, leg shields and floor boards, Wixom luggage, alternator, everything rebuilt / replaced, anyone with a 500cc Guzzi Bacon Slicer want to make a trade?

Joliet Jim’s yellow bike he had listed for a while. Is it a V11? Anyways, if I’d had the ready cash that would have been the one.
-
I’d like to introduce a factor into y’all’s deliberation processes.
When you nominate your bike, ask yourself..
What would I do if the ‘phone rang NOW and the owner of your stray said...”ok, let’s do it...”
If Dave Swanson rang me regarding his V11 Sport for my Norge..?
I wouldn’t have the heart or the balls to say yes...(but I could easily perv on her all night..).
BTW..I’m aware that Norge’s are a dime a dozen and we’re talking about a covert illicit affair here, not a relationship..
-
JJ.. you might want to talk to Tom..

I’d pimp the wife for Blackcat’s ice blue 850 LeMans. Only until it was paid off, of course.

Maybe I’ll re name the thread..
What is your favourite bike among WG members ?
-
I would take Chuck's whole stable, from the Scura to the MZ.. but the Aero Lario more than any other.
Dave Swanson's V11 or 1000s are the two finest examples I've seen. The 1000s is already my favorite bike and the Sparklehorse connection is just too good...
BlackCat's LeMans
hmm what else do I covet
oh yeah, elevenminusone's Eldo!

For someone with deep pockets, it would be a cool business. Rent short rides on exotics, 50 miles for $100?

Great idea for a thread...
Well.... Jacksonracings Lemans which has been loved, ridden and modded brilliantly over the years is the bike that best sums up what a guzzi tonti should be. Would be number 1 on my list. And in my opinion, 'Function over form' has never looked so good! Just love it...
At the same time, my first Guzzi was A Cali Vintage which had incredibly disappointing fuelling. I spent way too much time trying to fix it. It was a bike that took me everywhere all through my 20s, so many great memories. But the pinking thing drove me nuts! So I've always harboured a kind of hope that I could one day have a FI Guzzi that fuels properly and just does what it should. Enter Beetle and Roper and the Griso maps. So, my other choice would be for Roper's Griso!. (obviously I'd have to paint the radiator to match the rest of the paintwork though...)
I guess that means I have a foot in 2 (occasionally antagonistic :boxing:) groups.
And it's no coincidence that I own a Tonti Lemans very much in the spirit of Jacksonracing and a 1200 SE Griso with the GrisoGhetto mapping and mods!
But I wouldn't swap any bike on this forum for my Loop with it's custom modern front end!
(belive it or not I tried to make this reply as concise as possible)

Dean Rose's White Magnolia
Chuck's AeroLario

I’d like to see someone start a poll and we all lodge our vote.
I reckon I could pick the winner in advance if at least 100 people vote and only for ONE bike each, without a three page reason why they overlooked #2..
I would leave my pick for a winner with Dusty (which is not necessarily the one I vote for), but I think I know who’ll come out on top by a whisker...
-
I nominate WitchCityGuzz's black cafe racer.
One of the best styling exercises on a Tonti ever.

It's tough, there have been some rolling works of art out of Mandello. My favorite would probably be a Corsa V11 LeMans either red or black, but the first Tenni one. Aw man this is hard. I like that "bumblebee" Centauro enough to have kept it for the last 15 of so years.

All you need to do is continue that pearl white and green stripe down into the lower fairing on both sides. Then stick a fork in it, and sell it to me.

... and would like to match up the Silver and Green , need to find the right - Paint / Shop

That “single sided” front end looks nice.
How does it go with one front fork ?

Aww man I forgot about LuckPhil's Hi-Cam V11, Canuck's Benelli, and Leafman's Nuevo Falcone civilian...
It could be in your garage! everything is for sale, I don't get attached to many bikes, only one I probably would not part with is my 48 Airone

I totally forgot...
Who has the Coppa Italia V11 with the paint matched full V11 LeMans fairing on it???? Now THATS a contender!
That would definitely be my favorite. I'll lock that one in.

I've always been surprised how Guzzi got away with the tank cut out design on the 1400's. It's such an abomination style wise. I mean it looks like the engine guy designed the engine while the cycle design guy was on annual leave. When he got back from holidays the design guy couldn't come up with any way to create a beautiful tank and just went "f*** it" "I'm a just hacking some cut outs here" and "thats a gunna have to do Luigi"
Ciao

Kinda like my bikes, however always had a fascination for a Magni Australia, or ideally a Sifida 4v because an Australia is no obscure enough, think Oldjock has an Australia. Racing Dayton No1 was on this board once upon a time but its changed hands since. Id like a civil Falcone 500 one day but thats not a sell everything and move heavan and earth to obtain one.

Yeah that’s a fair take on it and probably accurate. But I think from a design point of view, it looks like the cylinders are “bursting out” from underneath.
But still not on my short list.

Disagree - I think some of the 1400's are fine designwise, once one is interested in a big cruiser.
Daring, different, self-concious.

I agree. Sometimes things seem after the fact. I remember a late 90s maybe 2000 firebird with a big transmission hump or exhaust hump that extended into the passenger floor board space. And the no spare tire in the newer Camaros I’m sure there are a lot more examples

One of the things that can be done with motorcycles in general....don't like, modify it. How much time & money do you want throw at it becomes the ????. Has to be someone out there in Guzzi land that's making their interpretation of a Le Mans 1400. 😳

Good point.
I have spent over $10,000 on my V 85 since I bought it and don’t regret it one bit.

I think we might be able to put a sizable dent in Dave Swanson's stable if we tried. I'll start with the lovely V7

It is not to everyone's taste, but this design is different and is what helps to make this bike stand out from the rest of the pack. With the red engine cover, the red, white with black trim makes for a nice colour combination.
With my bike, I do not like the leather trim fitted to the panniers, an after market modification by a previous owner.
