Chicago listing and the bikes are in Texas? Anyway, the big block 1000S is tempting.

Now THAT's what the original CX100 looks like! :thumb: Must be a `79.

Interesting. It's also showing on the Denver Craigslist.

Sent him an e-mail, let's see what happens.

We used to have a wonderful saying. Is your bike for sale or do you want to sell your bike?
Nice bikes do sell. But at fair prices. A spectacular 1000S just sold on Ebay for $7200.
Plus winter is coming. So be patient.

Not a spectacular 1000S. It's a clone. Spectacular REAL 1000S will be $12-15K

I contacted seller. Seller would not tell me a price for the 1000S. I offered $15,000.00. I was told these bikes are not for me... Seems he has had offers above that...

"these bikes are not for you" ...... oh well ....

the seller wants a price way north of $15K for the 1000S beauties, as Jay Leno says you can't pay too much, you just bought too soon. Guessing the seller wants close to $20K for a 1000S it could be a very long time if ever that a 1000S is going to command much more. That said if you gotta have it then its only money.

Watched an episode of American Pickers last week where they found a 1920 something Auburn 634 and the owner wanted 80k for it unrestored. Once he found out restored examples only sell for 35k he changed his tune.

here's one for $90k. Original cars are now going for more money than restored cars but I am not sure what an original car that needs to be restored is worth.
I also don't believe much on AP. I think someone posted here that show was pretty much a show.

Notice how he organized the pics with the best ones first and ending with.....

I don't know if that is a real bike or he just used that frame to store miscellaneous parts on. That is one ugly turd.

"Rare" "police" "choice" or in a "collection" all seem to be buzz words telegraphing stupid-high pricing. :coffee:
