Hey folks. I'm looking for a nice riding jacket that is a little longer in the back. Jackets always ride up on me because I have a longer torso. Any suggestions.

If you are looking for a leather jacket these folks have a great product.

Any real motorcycle jacket should be designed to be longer in the back. The folks that design those know that you are seated leaning forward.
All of those designer HD jackets and the ones you get in the truck stops are designed for sitting upright on a bar stool. They may look really cool but they won't give you the coverage you need when you are really riding.
Another option is to get actual riding pants that are made higher in the back to zip to the jacket.

If leather, call Vanson and talk about what it would cost to have a jacket made to fit you. When I had mine made, the big issue was that it took a long time, but it was worth the wait, and the cost, in my view, was reasonable. They make great jackets, and for that matter great trousers.
Vanson made my jacket and trousers about five years ago. There was definitely an issue about turn-around time, but that may have improved since. Certainly, I'd speak with them. They make great jackets that will last a lifetime.
And I am not saying this as part of the Buy USA mantra. I'm not an American; I'm just a very satisfied customer.
If you can get to their shop in Fall River, you might even find a jacket that fits you off the rack.

Give a call to Langlitz. Expensive, but all custom.
-
Get one with good armor.. research them all and come back to Roadcrafter by Aerostich..! made in Duluth MN USA

There's a guy selling a Klim overland in the classifieds. I have one and like it a lot, but it's probably "normal" length.

Agreed. Roadcrafter or Darien from Aerostich. 10 years and going strong on my Darien jacket and pants.
http://www.aerostich.com/jackets-pants/darien
http://www.aerostich.com/jackets-pants/roadcrafter
Roadcrafter is either a one-piece or two-piece and zipped together suit that is a bit more form-fit. Darien is 2 separate pieces (no attachment to each other) that fit a bit more freely, designed for touring, etc. Lots of options for each line.
No personal experience, but another domestic option to look at. Motoport, in California. http://www.motoport.com/
Steve.

Like Vanson, also said to be good. Does Langlitz do competition weight?
-
I love my Vanson jackets, still wearing one that is 30 years old! I have a couple newer ones too. Yes, there is the wait, but the leather is top notch and they truly last a lifetime...
-
Barbour has a new international jacket with armor and a removable insulated liner
It's waterproof and breathable.
Not yet common in the USA.
It can be reproofed as needed.
Will last forever.
Look for the international bike jacket

Vanson, Langlitz and Schott are well known, but not sure if any of them have armor. Dainese is expensive but I'm a fan of their non-racing gear.
-
Check out these guys:
http://olympiamotosports.com/
I have one of their leathers (prob. 11-12 years old) which they no longer make, but there ballistic gear is outstanding and priced well for what you get. I can also say the customer service is outstanding. I contacted them a couple years ago for new armor and a couple zipper pulls for my leather. Mind you the jacket had been out of production for nearly ten years. No problem, set me up cheap. A real pleasure to deal with.

Leather vs. textile is kind of apples/oranges. I have an Aero Darien jacket that is very practical, but I prefer the feel and aesthetics of leather. As previously noted, you can't go wrong with Vanson. For a medium price (around $400), I am very satisfied with my Tourmaster Element jacket. The leather is claimed to be 20% cooler than untreated leather, and more important, waterproof. Fits well with unobtrusive armor, and has a nice "hand".
-
I love my Barbour waxed cotton jacket.
-
Another recommendation for the Aerostich. I've had a bunch of different ones before, but I'll only be wearing the Roadcrafter from now on.
-
Aerostich. I like leather too, but living down South means my clothing must be washable. Textiles dominate with my moto-clothes...
-
Motoport, Motoport, Motoport.
Custom made for your size, put together as you decide with armor, extra slide protection, reflector, etc. etc. The Kevlar jackets are amazing. I have nearly 100,000 miles on one and love it. Made here and bulletproof.
Wayne (the owner) is a great guy to do business with and will make sure jacket fits like a glove.
-
Another vote for Aerostich. I have Roadcrafter jacket and really like it.
-
Another option is Belstaff. This selection is from our local Moto Guzzi dealer in Toronto: http://corsameccanica.com/belstaff

HELD from Germany makes off the rack tall/short. They also build in Pakistan and EU. ... read the fine print. They also make old school touring jackets... aka long.
There's a guy on this forum from Australia who sews some interesting designs
-
I am a Dainese fan , with a decent price you get a good quality jacket.
they make them for every kind of wallets and style.
http://www.dainese.com/us_en/
vanson, shott, langlitz etc are expensive good jackets, good to go to the movie.

Vanson, Langlitz and Schott are well known, but not sure if any of them have armor. Dainese is expensive but I'm a fan of their non-racing gear.
I can say with confidence that Vanson jackets come with shoulder and elbow armor, and they're very well made, to last a lifetime. I bought my Drifter model at the factory in Fall River, MA, an experience in itself! I had lesser satisfaction trying to buy pants there, however. Their "real" motorcycling pants are meant for racing and I'm sure they work well for that purpose, but they're much too heavy and stiff for street riding. They might break in, eventually, but, at age 74, I don't have the time. Their other leather pants are not really designed for riding, except perhaps for short jaunts to the local Starbucks. Too tight fitting, to low in back, no armor. I got a pair of cheap Bilt Spirit leather pants at Cycle gear, they do the job.

I recommend Lewis Leathers.
Lewisleathers.com
They're an English version of Langlitz, or maybe Langlitz is the American version of Lewis.
Either way you can't go wrong.
-
I only wear leather when riding short distances. Otherwise it is a Tourmaster jacket. But, mine (Flex III) is not that long in back and not custom.
If I were to buy something else it would be a stich suit.
-
Many folks don't want to spend over $1000 for a riding suit.
Three jackets that are a very good buys are:
1. TourMaster Transition
2. First Gear Kilimanjaro
3. First Gear Kathmandu
Check with NewEnough (Adventure whatever)
http://www.motorcyclegear.com/
Years ago, I had an Transition and I was very impressed with it. I currently have a high-dollar riding suit but, really, that inexpensive Transition performed equally well.
-
My fieldsheer jacket is long and warm but no longer waterproof after 3 years
-
I really like my transition II jacket. I've had it for over 10 years and it performs very well although it's a little faded.
-
I know the problem as I'm 6" 4'. You could do worse than order one of these from the UK.

I know the models look a bit funny.
Here I am modelling the kit for you!

Works ok when I'm riding the V7Sport as well. I'm sure there must be others who make leathers in this style.

A thread drift here but-
I really like leather. Finding good leather is not as easy now as once was the case.
I am lucky. I have a pristine original First Gear (FG) below-the-waist leather Kilimanjaro jacket WITH the matching pants and they are in the rare brown color. That is a helluva outfilt, lemme tell ya.
I also have a FG Stealth leather jacket with zip-to matching pants.
One of the best and newest leather pieces that I have is actually an official Guzzi 3/4 jacket made by Dainese. The California???? I love it. *edit* I think it's called the Vintage Jacket.
Old time, I also have a genuine Harley Davidson Cycle Champ police-type jacket that I bought 38 years ago when I bought my Low Rider. It's in great condition and I still wear it.
For long distance, multi-weather cladding, I bought a new BMW 2-piece suit about a year ago. I also have a few other textile jackets that I've picked up in the last few years.
Leather feels the best for me. The only inconvenience is that I must take separate rain gear for my leather. I know it's heavier and all of that but I find leather the most comfortable of all motorcycle protective gear.
Still, that TourMaster Transition was a lot of jacket for the money. A best buy. They now have the Transition 4. I had the original Transition and then the Transition 2.

Yep. My old Motoport is living out in SoCal in semi retirement after a full and adventurous life. What was red is now pink, black is now grey, but it soldiers on..

I have to agree 100%, just bought one.

I've got the Klim "lattitude" and it's longer all around, comes down below the belt. I'm 6'2", so I don't like the high waist styles either.
Great venting, good 4 season jacket. Lots of pockets, and protection. Highly visible. A little pricey around $600, but top quality and should last forever. Wife got the women's "lattitude" also, and it too comes down lower, but is fitted better for a woman. Same protection and visibility.
Check out you tube video, or revzilla.com. Free shipping and will exchange sizes if not right.

The Kilimanjaro was my first jacket after I bought the goose. It was really nice, until the temps got over 75F. The venting on it was poor, just chest vents and under arm IIRC. I think they have improved the venting a bit since them. Was waterproof though.

Another fan of Vanson here. Real quality stuff, although more suited to the racer than the tourer. Here's my old thread on that topic: http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=46374.0 (http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=46374.0)

I bought a TourMaster Transition 4 to replace an old First Gear Kilimanjaro. I like it a whole lot better than the FirstGear. It is my winter riding jacket. I have two perforated Dianese jackets I wear most of the year and absolutely love.
I very seriously considered a Vanson, but have a hard time buying without trying.

Olympia gear is awesome, I've had they're ADV style jacket and pants for 4 years. Great quality, warm and waterproof, if you're looking for something to tour in. I've ridden with it from 85 degree temps to below freezing.
Met the owner Kevin at AIMExpo last year. Super nice guy.

I bought a Kilimanjaro in great condition on ebay for $45. I an very happy with it so far.

Hello;
Get the matching pants and use the back zipper.. It will keep the jacket from riding up.
