(Hope that worked)
What a sound!

What a jewel!

Wow nice! Is there a write up anywhere about it?

Cool beans!! Truly a work of art and craftsmanship! The FRANZ FLYER!! Thumbs up all around!! :thumb:  :1:

Sweet

Very cool. I wonder how/why he decided on the displacement? Maybe he figured that displacement would produce just enough hp, but not too much for the (BMW /2?) transmission.

I'd like to read some details too. It almost has to be liquid cooled, but I don't see a radiator, for example. He looks a little older than when he was on NYPD Blue. :)
-
Looks like he's built another:

Gobsmacked - that is one fine sound isn't it?

On another YouTube video he shows an air cooled V8. I suspect the rear pot(s) would get a bit hot on prolonged running.
Nice work though. :thumb:

In the sixties a Finnish engineer named Tauno Nurmi built a racing bike with V8 engine. Totally his own design and build. Here's a link to short introduction by his grandson: http://vasaramaki.com/eng/2015/04/about-my-grandfather/

Much more cool than a Boss Hoss!
I'd love to have a new bike that looks like that.

 sarcasm abounds...
It'll never work, the tires are too skinny...

This guy is a builder. He has also built a V Twin.

Dennis is an amazing talent. He lives about 10 miles from me and I run into him ever so often. First time I met him was when I saw a Guzzi I didn't recognize outside a convenience store in Newton, KS where he is from. He has also built a diesel bike in a Guzzi frame. Below is two videos of running model tractors that he has done.

John, do you know if he makes his own castings or is everything machined?

Perhaps a reference to the 392 Hemi ?

Don't quote me on it but I think he machines but does not cast. May be wrong. Have to remember to ask.

After a little calculating, it comes to 49 cc per cylinder. That's a good size for lots of off-the-shelf pistons...

OK, guys, let's be honest, are we looking at kits these guys buy, put together and make run, or do they build them from scratch?
I'd love to hear what a Motobecane 850 V8 w/shaft drive sounds like.

There are no "kits" to buy, Dennis Franz is building mostly from scratch with a few off-the-shelf components (such as pistons?) I expect.
Motobecane? Don't you mean Morbidelli?

Doh.............thi s is the 2nd time I called a Morbidelli bike a Motobecane. Yeah that's the 1 I'm referring to.
BTW, Morbidelli senior's son? races in Moto 2 and he's won the last/1st 2 races this year. :thumb:

I think that he used Honda pistons.

Unbelievably brilliant execution. I'm having conniptions trying to do rearsets on one of my bikes and he builds complete motorcycles. Anybody know a good online self esteem class?
