Ha!
I hemmed and hawed over a Norge until my wife begged me to just buy it and be done! It's all in the technique.  :thewife:

Looking at a Stelvio.

Two left over 2016's in Rosso Vulcano Red just came up the other day in Michigan at Fox Power Sports, each @ $11,499 sale price.

Kent, rather than boring people here either PM me or I'll fill you in on the Cheese board where Doug can chime in too. There are. Good points and downsides to a Stelvio but the downsides are mainly down to stature, yours basically, and strength.

Doug and I talked quite a bit about Stelvios at the Adirondack Rally.

That's probably one of the subjects that wouldn't bore anyone here, I would think.

You don't know my wife. There are other issues involved as well. This must be a joint decision.

I think you got it backwards...

Easier to ask forgiveness than beg for permission!  :)

Either way...ask or don't ask, it's really none of our business how you go about getting another Guzzi in the garage...just show us the pics when you land it!

About our wives it's important to know.... If they ain't happy we're not going to be happy.
Ya gotta do what ya gottta do.  :boozing:

On Hamlin cycles....I purchased from Jim last week and will fly up in August then spend  a few weeks wandering my way back to Florida. He's been easy to work with and comes highly recommended by many riders in the NE.

Where in upstate NY are you? I lived in the Rhinebeck/Kingston area for 38 years before retiring to Florida
and miss all the wonderful roads in the Catskill, White, Green, Adirondack, Pocono, Berkshire, mountains. I don't miss winters.

The cat's coming out of the bag. Oh, my. Jim is putting a V7 III together for me, too. May have it in time for our rally this  coming weekend.  R3~

@Roadscum. We live on the NY/VT border about 20 miles from Glens Falls. We just had our first winter here. Wasn't too bad. Mud season, though, we could do without.

That's a very beautiful area with great riding roads. I plan to pass through there, maybe a bit north of you, Whitehall to Lake Luzern, on my ride home next month. I ya wanta give Jim Hamlin a call and let him know you'll pick up a new bike from him on the 15th of August, we can travel together to NY.  Maybe Roeblings3 will join us and we'll have our own Guzzi Rally, after all it only takes three Guzzi's to have a Guzzi rally!!!!

I don't think it's possible to have a better experience.

King o'! Am I gonna see you at Russell? Jim said he would try to have my bike ready for the rally. I agreed. He could make major points making a delivery there. (as if he needed more). Jim's skills and good nature precede him. I was on the fone with him when he was readying the Stelvio to go to Florida. We're tight. Though my son has known him much longer.   R3~

Only one more decent trip planned-the annual Columbus day weekend to WV.
The rest are all day rides-210 yesterday on the little sweet one AKA V7!

I got approval from the wife. The Credit Union gave theirs today and if nothing unforeseen happens, this will be in my garage in a few weeks. (http://www.motointernational.com/uploads/images/img_0623x40.jpg)

It's perfect!  Enjoy.  I'm celebrating the 2 yr anniversary of purchasing my Stelvio today.  Mine is the Orange/Copper color, but that red is so damn sexy! If it wasn't for the bonus 5 extra hp you get with the Orange ones   I would have a red one.

I really like the extra wheelset, excellent purchase.

I'm curious to know the difference in weight between the spoke wheels with off road tires, and the cast ones with road tires.  Any change of weighing them when you do your first swapover?

I could probably get the weights of one set of wheels when I get them. As to weighing them when I change them, you might have to remind me.

Just got word from MI that my new Stelvio is on its way! Here is some info he sent me regarding the codes and stuff.
Here are a couple of things about your bike’s instrument panel that we’d like you to know that aren’t covered well in the manual.
Service codes

A code is needed to access the section of the menu called Diagnostics. Here (depending on model) you can reset the instrument panel after a service, store a key code, introduce new keys, set some display defaults, or perform diagnosis possible from the instrument panel.

Models

Grisos

1200 Sport,

early Breva 1100

Norge, late Breva 1100

Stelvio

Shiver

Mana

Tuono

V-twin

Dorso-duro

V4s

SR50

Code

12425

36421

28315

10695

12398

12321

13432

98789

12412

45256
Introducing new chipped keys to your bike

Your bike has to recognize each key as acceptable, done through the dashboard menu. Depending on the model, you may need the service code and you’ll for sure be prompted for a key code in the key replacement section. There is no special key code (default is 00000) unless you designate one in the “Change the code” section. We strongly advise against it, as someday you might sell your bike and forget to pass on your key code. For this reason, we suggest that all key codes remain all zeroes. Follow the prompted instructions. If you screw up, turn the key switch off, wait a few seconds, and start all over again.
Error message

When you first turn on the key, you'll see a message saying "Remember to insert your user code." Best to ignore this and it will disappear in 5 seconds. You can put in a unique code, but if you sell the bike someday and forget to tell the new owner, he’ll never be able to add a replacement key.

Moving the mode button left or right scrolls the bottom of the display through various things: odometer, trip meter, time run, top speed, average speed, and gas miles. Moving it 3 seconds to the right takes you from screen 1 to screen 2, so you can keep track of two sets of information, like a tank of gas vs. a whole trip. Pressing the button in for 3 seconds erases all this information for just the screen you're on (1 or 2), leaving the other still recorded and of course this doesn't erase total miles. Moving it 3 seconds to the right beyond screen 2 takes you to other things: battery voltage, chronometer, instantaneous gas mileage, traction control, and menu. Push the button in on menu to go into the menu. Scroll through the choices a second at a time and go into your choice by holding it in, again for 3 seconds.

Hot grips are controlled by a little button on the front of the left switch module at the bottom. Again, holding 3 seconds toggles between on and off and 1 second gets you from low to medium, medium to high, and high to low.

For those who had trouble reading Ken's post on dash service access codes, here it is again in legible form:

Grisos -         12425

1200 Sport, early Breva 1100 -   36421

Norge, late Breva 1100 -   28315

Stelvio -         10695

Shiver -         12398

Mana -         12321

Tuono V-twin -      13432

Dorsoduro -      98789

V4s -         12412

SR50 -         45256

At least, I think that's what it started out as before web formatting blasted it to pieces.

No user code gives absolutely no security.  I would suggest extract a code from the VIN number or use the diagnostics code as the user code too.  That's if you cannot remember personal numbers.

For the code I just use the first five numerals of my birthdate. Hard to forget.
