Someone is wanting to trade this guzzi for a Razor ATV my son has. Can any of you guys tell me what this bike is and approximate value? I know this is kinda vague but I may can get more info later.

It does have the rare *fur* injection option , one of three if memory serves . A properly set up Jackal has less than zero need for a Power Commander so that is meaningless , find out who actually built this thing before making a move , it is sort of interesting , but an improperly done conversion can be a nightmare .

It's my sons Dusty. I'll get more information tomorrow. This bike is not far from where we live in the Piedmont area of NC. From the picture I can tell it's been repainted. It's looks good in the photo but I've been fooled too many times from pictures. I told my boy I'd be willing to go look at it. I think he said the guy is asking 4K outright.

Well , a nice well set up Jackal will bring $2K , so unless your boy really wants *Frankie* ...

I remember a time when this board would be going nuts over a squarefin loop conversion. Mark Etheridge did one, and there was a another one that was a BFD. (These are the days when board members were pining for Guzzi to make a new Eldorado)
4K seems cheap to me.

I like it and i do not think you can build one similar with less than 4 k .

It was indeed built by Paul Linn, one of a number of "customs" he's built. Tom Formberg owned one and so did Mike Skaggs. Paul builds some nice bikes, that usually have a few "bugs" to work out. IMO, it's a bargain for $4k.

The thing about the power command needing tweaking due to low rpm popping, I think that's how it was put, is this something that can be tuned after removing the power commander?

Wasn't trying to be mean at all, but there is a reason why lots who buy the C14 dump them.

There are FrankenGuzzis and *nice* FrankenGuzzis. Looks like a nice one to me. Value is in the eye of the beholder, though.

This looks fine to me and it would be a fun bike to play with. A 2000 Jackal 1100 engine should be very stout. Make sure it has the twin plate clutch assembly with the 5 speed. A properly set up and tuned Power Commander is a wonderful device. Whether the Jackal engine/EFI/intake/exhaust is bone stock or modified. Again, the stock fuel map wasn't designed for the benefit of the engine or power, it was only as a mandate from the government. Being able to tune each cylinder's AFR and the engine timing with a PCV is excellent option. Sadly, few Moto Guzzi owners seem to realize this. Likely due to such small numbers of bikes and even fewer tuning centers knowing much about tuning a Guzzi. That and having a bike properly dyno tuned costs a few bucks.
If there's an air leak in any of the exhaust connections that could also cause some popping. It really depends on the circumstances of the popping.

It’s a nice looking bike and appears to have been done well. 4K is probably about right but that depends how many miles are on the drivetrain and a few other things. Trade value is lower that purchase so if I was trading Something toward it I’d suggest 3k-3.5. A Power Commander isn’t bad but it’s also not usually needed unless you swap exhausts and a bike runs lean. Slapping one on a bike doesn’t automatically make it run any better.
I don’t agree that people are dumping 1400’s because they’re bad. I think people sell or trade them because they didn’t really know what it was when they bought them. They have the same issues every other Guzzi does.

Really tempting. I'd make it look more like an Eldo, even put a belt driven alternator on. Black with original pinstriping.

There two areas where a leak could occur on that bike:
It has Loopframe headpipes with have a different flange than Tonti frame headpipes. Unless they've been modified or some sort of adapter made, there's a very good chance that they're not sealing well at the head. been there, fought that.
The mufflers are made by MAC which in my experience don't fit very tightly onto the headpipes. I've found it necessary to use thin aluminum shims a sealer to get them to stop leaking.
Those two could be part of the reason it's popping, but the headpipes are quite blue as well.

I have to echo brother Dusty's sentiment here.
I've had two motorcycles where the fueling was damn near divine.
* 1996 Harley RK
* 2000 Guzzi Jackal
You know what was the common denominator?
Weber-Marelli open-loop EFI.
Programmed to be better than a carb without all the bullshit lean spots that creep in out of nowhere to satisfy the EPA!
Yeah, the no f'n need for a Power Commander on anything remotely near stock build/tune on a Jackal!
