V7II Rear Shocks
« on: June 18, 2019, 09:22:49 PM »
Finally decided to upgrade the rear shocks on Olivia.

Considering these...

Appreciate any comments or other options.

My backside knew within the first 10 miles on my V7 that a rear shock upgrade was mandatory.

I think both of the options shown would serve you well, and be a huge improvement over the stock shocks.

I installed Progressive Off Road shocks based on the recommendation received from Dave Richardson at Moto International.  They have to be mounted upside down to fit the V7, but this shock can be mounted either way.  The Progressives were in the same price range as the shocks you are considering

I have the Ikons on the V7S and the Gazi on the V7C. The Ikons are good, the Gazi better (so they should be for 50% more money). BUT a test ride of the V7 III Racer showed me what a different high quality shocks, properly set up can make. Chalk & cheese. Go for the best your wallet can stretch to. Include the set up costs by an expect in your calculation.

I'm not a fan of the 1 size fits all Ikons.  I mean i'm sure they are good quality, but the best solution is always the one set up specifically for you.  That's been my experience with suspension.  Yes, good ones are $

Buy direct from Hagon, they will custom valve and spring for your weight. $avethegreenbacks!

Very satisfied with mine, together with KTech fork springs, the Hagon Enduro shocks transformed my Stornello from punishing to plush. No more bottoming out, crashing of herniating discs..... I've never ridden a bike with worse OEM shocks than the stock units on the V7ii, and I am NOT picky with suspension bits.

Hagons are what I have on the rear of my V7ii - they work great for me too.  But I heard that the gentleman assembling them (forgot his name) is no longer around.  Does that mean no more US support?

I got my Icons from MG cycles. Quite a bit cheaper than from Icon USA . So far so good.

Shock factory are the very hot ticket amongst the guzzisti in France...run by an Englishman.....much better value than the Ikons and Hagons and still at a sensible price.....http://www.shock-factory.co.uk/

Thanks for all the ideas!

The Shock Works looks like a high quality unit as do the Ikons. I have had Hagons on the V11's and have been happy. Must say it is nice to have choices...sometimes in the Guzzi realm you have a choice of maybe 1!!

I have Ikons on my V7 stornello. I can't say I'm impressed w/them. Slightly better than stock shocks set very soft but I should have tried the hagons. past experience says I would have liked them better Love my bike though after 15K
