Fork-Steering Stopper on Frame

Hello, the fork-steering stopper on frame broke off on my G5. Until fixed properly (frame or at least forks off to weld somewhere around here), is there an easy temporary solution that I can do (or buy) that will prevent the forks from hitting the tank when parking and such? Was thinking of leveraging the engine guards / crash bar somehow.

It’s usually the aluminum nubs on the triple tree that get sheared off by the frame stop because the frame stop is too far away. I bend the frame stop as close to the base of the stops as possible. If the frame part is broken off maybe you can make one that bolts to the two socket head bolts that are at the top where the frame down tubes meet. Or maybe clamp some rubber bumpers on the crash bars that will hit on the fork legs. When they went to 45mm forks, they are so strong that it deforms the lower bearing mount in the neck before the forks bend. I’ve repaired them by cutting off the bearing cup and welding on a new one I made on the lathe. Welding on a new piece for a frame stop should be able to be done fairly easily after you take a bunch of stuff off.

When I built a cafe racer, in the long ago past, it was possible to buy a clamp that was fitted round the fork leg and had a pin that stuck out so it could be positioned to hit the headstock when on full lock, not seen any for years but reasonably simple to machine something up to do the job.

Used HVAC grade copper line insulation on the upper forks, does the job for now.

That is what I have on my LM3 clip on's that are on the Sport 1100 forks. I had to bend the stop away from the big knob on lower tripple tree for a steering stabilizer. My tank doesn't get scratched w/no stop.  I can bolt a stop to the old one, once I make one.

I also thought of making one that comes off the x member your crash bars are on.
