 When I bought my bike after signing the paperwork the PO told me had misplaced the spare key but he knew it was in his shop and he would get it to me of course that never happened. So last week I went down to the Guzzi Dealer got two Guzzi blanks had them cut at the local hardware store went back to have them programed and they could not do it because whoever the first owner was changed the security code and they could not program the key even after a few phone calls to see if there was a way. So today I went do a very good locksmith to see if they  copy the key but they couldn't, the two machines they had to clone did not see the Guzzi blank so he made up a key with a new chip and when we tried it the dash came alive but wanted the security code which I do not have. So I have two worthless keys which cost $57 dollars each and only one key. Yes I did ask the PO if he had the code and he knew nothing about it and he never got back to me on who he bought it from. So don't buy a V85TT with only one key W/O knowing the code. Lesson learned.

I know one of the Guzzi dealers I do business with, program’s the code to be the last digits of VIN number. If that won’t work, contact AF1 racing. They offer a service that can clone your one key so you will have 2 of them having the same internal code,  https://www.af1racing.com/AF1-KeyCloning-EXT-AF1-Racing-Key-Cloning-For-External-Cut-Keys  . Most likely if you send them the 2 newly cut keys you have, they would be able to program those keys so you wouldn't be wasting the $114 you already spent on those keys. Which the dealer should be able to program to the bike.

 They tried that both first 4 and last 4. And the locksmith did clone the key that worked but without being able to enter the proper code it will not connect.

your locksmith did not clone it right if its asking for the code.  A clone does not dealer help.   A clone is an exact chip copy of a working key, the bike does not know the difference.  You could have a million clones, bike doesnt care.     

Every OEM key has a fixed and random chip in it.   Bike needs programmed to accept it.  On the TFT dash models (V100, v85, new V4), that requires that dealer and the USER CODE.   On the non-TFT dash bikes with immos (Griso, Norge, early aprilia V4), you can add OEM keys in the dash menus using the USER CODE



Yes, clones are chip copies using special blanks and chips.  Ready to use.

We cannot do anything with your two new OEM keys.  Those chips cannot be changed, and they cannot be reprogrammed.  They are fixed and random chips inside.     The bike’s dash has to be programmed to accept them.    The USER code and a dealer computer is required for that.   The personal user code can only be reset with both original keys. 
 
No harm in guessing the user codes….try one of your new OEM keys, and it will immediately ask for the code on dash screen.   Guess it right and the dash will boot up and bike will run.

Other than guesses such as year of birth, birth month & date (previous owner), year of bike, SSN number etc, guessing a 4 digit number probably has less a chance than getting hit by lightning.

But, what is there to lose? Go for it!

Bikes are way too complicated these days. I miss the prime the carbs, turn the key, and stomp on the kickstarter days.

Where did the PO buy the bike?  Hopefully he purchased it new.  You could contact the dealer to see what their standard key code is.

they are 00000 from MG, but can be changed to anything by the previous owner/dealer

10000 possible combos * 5 seconds per combination = 13.89 hours. 🙂.
