2016 Eldo
« on: March 03, 2026, 09:43:36 PM »
A semi-local dealer has a 2016 Eldorado up for grabs with 80,000 kms on the clock, I see scratches on the ad but hardly enough to rate the discounted price as they have listed it as wholesale. I am trying to find a reason to not fly down the coast and take it for a test ride? For the life of me, my baby Breva has only 60,000 kms and other than minor work has been pretty good. Any suggestions on what's going to hit me once I shell out the peanuts to bring this one home? I have this suspicion that once I ride it, it is coming home.

Many Thanks
Stephen

What are they asking for it? where is it? That's only 50k miles. If it's been treated right, it's now likely a very dependable motorcycle.

It has some very expensive accessories on it: red valve covers, oem saddlebags/brackets, aftermarket luggage rack with back rest, CA Touring seat, oem windshield and oem driving lights, heated grips and highway bar for starters. Many of those items are NLA, or, if you do find them, they're very expensive.

I bought an all black 2016 Eldorado with 1492 miles (yes, 1492 miles) on it late last year that was very nicely equipped to include a full GTM exhaust system, GTM fueling system, Matris piggy back rear shocks (the oem shocks are quite cheap), Matris fork internals, oem Eldorado luggage rack (no backrest), oem windshield with driving lights and new Avon Cobra Chrome white wall tires. I paid $9k for it. I'm the 3rd owner. The first owner only put 300 miles on it and returned it to the dealer. He said he was too old and the bike was too heavy. The second owner paid $9,500 for the bike and had receipts for the $12k (yes $12k) he spent improving it. He had back and stability (vertigo) issues and was only able to put a bit over 1000 miles on it.

Then I added several hard to find oem accessories like heated grips, oem GPS mount, oem USB remote power, oem media device (don't bother with it), oem leather saddlebags, the oem leather trunk and an oem leather tank bag. The saddlebag brackets were the hardest item to find. They've been NLA for years now. Plus I added DPM/Moto Guzzi billet accessories like mirrors, hand levers, foot lever covers, front wheel trim and floorboards etc.

The GTM and Matris items transform the bike amazingly well. Literally, night and day difference.

Anyway, if your experience ends up anything like mine, you'll be madly in love with it instantly.

Pro Tip: when you change the engine oil and filter, only refill with 3.5 liters of oil. Do not fill to the Full mark on the engine dip stick.

There's some good information on this forum doing a search under 1400. There is a LOT of excellent technical information on the GuzziTech forum. Well worth the price of admission. IMHO, both forums are a must have for the 1400 owner.

HI Mark, I was hoping that you would have some ideas, they only want a touch under $4000.00 cdn plus the usual bs fees and taxes. It is just screaming to be ridden at that price.

Oh my, I'd buy it as a parts bike if it were near me. Look at it up close, test ride it and don't say I didn't warn you.
That test ride could easily cost your wallet their asking price.

Take pictures and share your experience here. You'll likely love it. Some of those models had a dodgy Demand sensor. That one is likely fine with that mileage on it. One way to keep the demand sensor healthy is to only refill the engine with 3.5 liters of oil. That way the oil mist won't get up into the demand sensor and cause an issue.

If you get it, you'll be stylin and profilin in no time. The Eldo 1400 gets attention and very positive comments every time you stop.

$4,000? That's a no brainier. I would still have my Audace if I had the physical strength to ride it. Wonderful bikes.

Unless there is something wrong with the bike, ie accident, damaged engine/trans, it sounds like a very good buy.

Seriously, if you’re not going to buy it, please let me know where it is.

Here's an old but nice article on the beautiful 2016 Moto Guzzi Eldorado:

If this is the bike at International Motorsports it is very sad to look at.

It’s at International Motorsports in Langley, BC Canada. $4,000 CDN is about $2,930 USD at today’s exchange rate.

Sad how? Is it aesthetically a mess with scratches, dents and fading or is it sad in some other way?
Like it really just needs a new owner to love on it?

Being as I live in Burnaby (B.C and I should know better) , I might go have a look myself . That's only $200.00 more than I paid for my 2008 Vespa GTS250 last year  !
