The delay was mostly because MG sent the wrong heat shield 3 times from Italy. So about two weeks each time, until they finally sent the correct part.

Very happy with the bike and the dealer.

I think that adds to the character and the allure of the marque, does it not?

Plus you and the dealer have a great story to tell!

I've always considered the break-in miles to be complete when I clear the dealer's parking lot.  ;)

Both of the Italian bikes I’ve owned (Ducati carby 900ss, Griso12004V) got noticeably faster and better gas mileage as they “loosened up”.
Do the modern Guzzis still use a had coating (nickasil??) on the cylinders, or is that a thing of the past?

Finally picked up my V7 Sport.
The dealer installed my Hepco Becker backrest/rear rack for free. I purchased the rack from Moto Machines.
I bought a MG center stand, and the dealer installed that also. No labor charge as a gesture for dropping the bike. All,the new parts are installed, rides just like a 300 mile new bike.
The delay was mostly because MG sent the wrong heat shield 3 times from Italy. So about two weeks each time, until they finally sent the correct part.
All,in all, it worked out, I got a deal on some labor and the bike is good as it was before the incident. Multiple folks at the dealership apologized and thanked me for being patient.
The bike is so good, easy to ride and plenty of power everywhere. I want to get break in miles on it ASAP so I really ring it out.
Very happy with the bike and the dealer.

Itis good to hear that you treated the dealer and the people involved with compassion.  We are all human and we all make mistakes.  That speaks volumes about your character!!!

It is good to know that not all Moto Guzzi riders are as irritable and uppity as some BMW riders!  Very easy to understand why some dealers decide to drop the high end brands due to the nature of their customers.

I remember a quote that "One should always be kind to the young, the wrong, the foolish, and the old!  Because at some point in life. you will be all of them!!"

Truer words were never spoken.

It was an honest mistake. The damage was a bent brake pedal and lever, a mirror, and a scratched muffler/heat shield. They replaced all the damaged parts, plus installed my accessories for free.  I wish it hadn’t happened, but it did.
These folks have helped me out and treated me fairly for 30 years. I’m not going to flip out for a mistake. What if I dropped someone else’s bike? I’d be mortified.

I dropped a customers Concourse when I was a service manager at a busy Kawasaki Suzuki dealer. The shame and embarrassment is best dealt with honesty and repairing it better than it was. I misjudged how top heavy they are compared to a Guzzi. Luckily it only had a scratch on the fairing and I empathize with someone who drops someone else’s bike. It’s bad enough when I drop my own! A good dealer will do what it takes to make it right.
