Can't say about 2-up yet as it's not quite broken in and not setup yet for two up. I should be able to report a little more by spring. But neither my oldest daughter (my most regular pillion) or my wife (an occasional pillion who prefers to ride her own) are particularly picky about seats. Neither of them ever complained about any of the seats on our bikes including the stock Jackal and stock Sportster seats, both of which were akin to slate.

Again, I suspect the OEM gel seat will be a significant upgrade if the stock is insufficient.

To each his own.

I like my stock Stone seat...both in looks and feel.   8)

The seat is a matter of shape and taste, I love mine but my wife (and my daughter) hates it, says it is very uncomfortable BUT lots of others on here disagree, I'd say wait and see. The only thing I'd say though is if you are quite big (I am 6ft and 200lbs)the pillion doesn't have much room and tends to sit on the seam at the back where it slopes off. Smaller riders may not give their pillions this problem.

I'm 5' 9" and 210lbs (yeah I'm working on the weight!)...so this could be a slight problem for a pillion! Anyway, love the feedback all of you a giving!

I agree...I guess the fact of the matter is whatever suits you best...like you said, to each their own....nonetheless, it is great to get feedback and viewpoints if others as it helps to make sound decisions! Thanks again!

It would be nice to attend...I will look into it and try to arrange being available. My work is really top heavy on weekends and often difficult to arrange taking a weekend off...but I definitely will consider it!

I changed the cafe seat out on my V7R and got the low, factory gel seat.  It is both comfy, and actually give me more space to more around, and also getting on the seat's side for "aggressive" cornering.

That does it, I am ordering a dart fly screen and see how it works at freeway speeds.  That could be a step towards V7R ---> light touring bike.

I say own and ride the bike for a while before changing much out....except for the mirrors.

Best Harley dealer I ever met used to give out that same advice.

He'd talk buyers OUT of spending too much on farkles at purchase time because he didn't want to see them waste their money.

RIP Stretch  you were one of the good ones.  ;-T

I'd hold off on the DART until you've ridden it a bit. I kinda feel like the instrument pod functions a little like a flyscreen.

MGV7Rider -- Congrats and your impending purchase, and welcome to the small block club.

I have the Dart on my V7C.    It'll depending on your riding type, whether you should bother or not.    I think it helps smooth the air over my head a lot at speeds over 60 MPH.     That said, since I bought Kev's Breva 1100, I usually don't take the V7C if I'm going to be on the slab for very much.   After having the Dart for about a 9 months, I test-rode a new V7 Stone.    90% of that test ride was under 60 MPH.   I like the V7 WITHOUT the Dart better at the lower speeds, which is where the V7 is really in its element (yes, it does freeway speeds fine, that just isn't the mission it is really intended for).

On the seat, in the short time I've owned it I've gone about two hours at a stretch without getting off it. The seat begins to feel hard at that point, maybe about 100 miles.

 :+1

I bought Kev M's Breva 1100 with the OEM gel seat.   I I can do three plus hours without getting off.   Not so on the stock V7 seat.    About two hours on that, and my butt needs a break.   I did a few four hour days in a row on my V7C to and from the National this past summer.   The stock seat was fine, because we were taking frequent breaks due to the heat.    That said, I'm so happy with the OEM gel seat on the Breva that I'm going to buy one for my V7 too.

Thanks for your feedback. It is great to know that there are so many people out there willing to help out. All of these points are well taken and will ultimately help me make my decision (in due time...after all, I am still waiting to get the bike!). Thanks jas67!

Enjoy your rides!

Congratulations on your upcoming purchase.

I have 1300 miles on my new Stone.  Much of that is commuting to work on the freeway. I do agree that the bike does not need the Dart at lower speeds but it sure helps on the freeway. Glad I have one.

My bike is really loosening up nicely.  The other mod I would suggest is upgrading the exhaust. There are several great alternatives available.  I went with Mistrals and very happy with the results.

I was planning on upgrading the shocks but the stock ones have been adequate.  Mine came with Sachs but I have seen pics on on the Olle website that look like they are factory installed. European version maybe?

Thanks CND!

I am glad to hear that your bike is breaking in well! Congrats on your bike as well! Your feedback is appreciated. I definitely won't change out the shocks at the moment... I figure that I paid for them in the price of the bike and I will just wear them down for a bit... Maybe in a few years I will consider!

As for the dart flyscreen, I will try the bike out for a few weeks... It is reasonably priced and I could add it then!

Cheers and thanks again!

I am a new V7 Stone owner as well.  I won't be picking her up until Late June and will be riding back from N.C. to the DFW texas area.  I notice several comments about mirrors, and the bike I'm buying has changed out mirrors.  What's wrong with stock mirrors?

Also looking for tips about Blue Ridge Parkway, which I will ride before returning home.

Both my '13 V7 Stone and my new V7II Stone came equipped with Olle shocks.  I have no idea whether they're better or worse than Sachs shocks, but they're good enough for me.

The only issue I have with the mirrors (stock) was that they seemed to be too short and I was getting too much of my shoulder when viewing them...I think a few guys bought extenders or swapped out with another model on the Guzzi line. I went with bar end mirrors. Enjoy your ride!

Wow!

The stock mirrors are too short, and vibrate too much, resulting in a blurred image.

The 1200 sport mirrors corrected both.   MGCycle currently only shows the left on one their site.   IIRC, I actually ordered mine over the phone from Moto International.   The funny thing is, the same mirrors are available under an Aprilia (Tuano, I think) part number for less than the MG part number.

MPH got me the 1200 Sport mirrors, pretty cheap too, I think it was under $25 a side.
