Well, folks, serious kudos to Don G.  He located and sent me an original Amal boot that he had, and it looks brand new!  I'll get this off to Greg, and let everyone know how things progress.

Cheers,
Shaun

Great! I sure hope a repo boot can be made. I want to get the Amal equipped Eldo in my shop running for spring.

Hi, folks.

With regard to the Amal carbs on this bike, I'm planning to replace them with new Amals, and would like to go for the Premiers.  Not being familiar with these at all, I'm wondering which specific model I want to order for the Eldo.  Do the new carbs carry exactly the same part numbers as the originals, or?  I notice that British Cycle Supply carry a number of them; would I be looking for the 30mm units?  Here are the part numbers:

Application by Part Number:

691-R928/17/PREM - CARB, PREMIER, 28MM, A65T BSA

 691-R930/68/PREM - CARB, PREMIER, 30MM, NORTON 750, RH
 691-L930/69/PREM - CARB, PREMIER, 30MM, NORTON 750, LH

 691-R930/92/PREM - CARB, PREMIER, 30MM, T120/T140, RH
 691-L930/93/PREM - CARB, PREMIER, 30MM, T120/T140, LH

 691-R932/19/PREM - CARB, PREMIER, 32MM, NORTON 750, RH COMBAT
 691-L932/20/PREM - CARB, PREMIER, 32MM, NORTON 750, LH COMBAT

 691-R932/29/PREM - CARB, PREMIER, 32MM, NORTON 850, RH
 691-L932/30/PREM - CARB, PREMIER, 32MM, NORTON 850, LH

Here is the link to their information on the Amal Premiers:

Thanks!

Shaun: Give the good folks at Brit Cycle a call, I replaced mine with a set of 32's for a Combat upon thier suggestion, I could not get the top of the line Amals due to shortage, but the regular run of the mill Amals will work just fine if its all you can get.  DonG

Thanks, Don.  I'll give them a call, but I think I will dig out the original carbs and get a number off them first.  Depending upon price, I think I'd like to go with the Premier line, though, as it seems there have been a lot of improvements.  Once I get around to that, I'll post the details here for future reference.

Cheers,
Shaun
