Breva 1100 Fuel Tank Cap Leak
« on: April 26, 2016, 01:24:56 AM »
When I parked the bike on its side the other day one of the things I noticed PDQ was the fuel pi$$ing out of the tank through the filler cap

I assume this is "not normal" but can't see anything that is obviously serviceable in there

Any guidance please as I don't fancy ending up sometime in the future with the bike on my leg and fuel pouring over me

Cheers

PS Tank was about 3/4 full

2 lines coming out of tank, 1 is overflow vent, 1 is EVAP tank vent.

They crisscross by the rear tank mount, 1 goes down and is your cap area drain or overflow.
The other goes to a T and is your EVAP vent, goes to the can under rear seat by taillight.

You can access holes in cap area and clearly see the difference. Clean out w/air till it comes out at the fittings by rear tank mount. Then check hoses to can and drain, most likely one is burnt closed from exhaust.
If fuel has gone into charcoal can, delete it from sys cause it's now junk.

I suppose there's a vent tube and an overflow tube on the tank?    Make sure they're not pinched under the tank somewhere.
Make sure they're clear and that the one-way valve is working on the vent.

Same hose fittings on all, same tank. Use air to find blockage. Easy task.

Had it happen on my Tuono. Check this post out, and the links in it also. I think your gas cap is the same as this one.
