850T rear axle
«

I am putting together a "motorcycle in a box" which has a T3 frame but an 850T swing arm & rear end. The "thick" part of the rear axle I have doesn't come close to reaching the drum, but the axle seems to be long enough. I'm assuming that this is a T3 axle.
Is the axle of an 850T the same as an Eldo axle or completely unique? Can I just make a spacer or should I buy another axle?
Are the frames of the T3 & T the same except for the except for the hydraulic brake mount tab?
Thanks for any info!

Easy enough to find out if the Ambo/Eldo axle will work - try one from your Ambo or Eldo.
I think the Loop and T rear axles are the same, but I can't remember for sure.

T3 uses a 20mm axle. T uses a 16mm axle. There belongs a 4.5mm (+/-) washer between the axle and drum brake plate of the T. The T axle is chrome plated where the Loop axle is zinc plated, I believe. The length of Loop and T might be the same, the diameter is the same.

It's the difference between drum and disk brakes. The swing arm is spaced differently for the rear drive so the axle holes line up and there are other differences to accommodate disk v drum brakes. IIRC, any early T (disk) rear axles interchange. But I've learned to assume that NO parts directly interchange (at the swing arm/axle level) between disk and drum T's. When I've made a T into a T3 (stupid waste of time on an 850 IMO) I pretty much tossed everything from the u-joint boot back.
