well, while working on my 77 lemans and 78 g5, i put both swingarms with the rear drives (still attached) on the same shelf. you guessed it, now i don't remember which was which. any tell tales signs i should look for?

Do you have a copy of Guzzilogy? There is a longish section on different rear drives.

Lay them side by side and compare. I think the only difference is the bearing dia. for the u joint, I know or sure the G5 had the larger hole in the bearing-- up to that point the bearing was similar to the T3,smaller hole for the bearing--it was a ongoing change over at the factory at that time to the larger u joint.

Having not been in the same situation. What kind of difference would it make? If it was a Convert involved instead I'd understand that there's a difference. "Jus' askin."

The bearng in the convert swingarm is the large type same as a G5 the only difference is the convert universal joint the back part is the drive shaft with a G5 is A Separate Peace other than that there should be no differences

Finish might be slightly different on the two arms. I thought the LM had a satin finish whereas the 'Tourer' series had gloss black? Apart from that they are identical.
