Motorcycle names - how do they vary by continent?
« on: May 27, 2016, 01:43:43 PM »
Bagger, full dresser,  bobber, racer, cafĂ©, chopper, rat, tourer, adv'er...

What other names do folks on other continents use to describe their motos?

Any special names for Guzzi's of the same style - how do you call them?

I think the question is what the slang for a bagger or a sport bike is in France , or Istanbul ? Help us out Kirbster .

Oh , in Oklahoma , which is almost a foreign country , we used to call dressers "garbage barges"

Moto's are often called my pet names in FR.
I called my first Ducati "Ble' pit" (something was always wrong with the thing)

My S2R is "Monique" (reminds me of someone I used to know).

?

It has been my experience that the same names we call our machines in the states the others use as well. There may be some colloquial slang but a bagger is a bagger etc. Often they will use the English word.
Having said that I don't think they call sport bikes "rice rockets" in asia or japan.

:-)

Tres bien dit Kirby!  Good one indeed!  Thanks!

I'm guessing then that a BMW in Germany is not called a Cabbage (Kraut as in Sauerkraut) Rocket either.   But would it be Die Bimmer or Der Bimmer?
