Automatic banjo fittings
« on: September 04, 2016, 07:29:15 AM »
I want to replace most or all of the Auto tranny hoses on my '85 Cal 2 .
Dave in Guzziology says good hoses with hose clamps are ok. But doesn't give info on alternative banjo fittings.

I know they've got to be readily available if I knew the correct size etc.
I could take them all off and measure but don't want to break the crush washer seals etc. until I have replacements in hand.
From my experience taking a part to the local automotive part store for show and tell ends up with a short conversation:

Bored Counter Person: "What is the make and model?"

Me: "Well...it comes off a Moto Guzzi...."

BCP: "Never heard of it...do you have a part number?"

Me: "Well....I was looking for an alternative..."

BCP: "I can't help you unless you have a make and model and part number..."

Me: "Never mind, just thought I'd check...I'll try to find it somewhere else."

Sure!
Yours must be off of a Convert. I don't see the hard piped one for pump to converter.
But I believe they are the same otherwise.
Shipping plus? How should I get you the $? Paypal?

I'm in Cedar Rapids Iowa
Lived in Northfield just South of you for awhile

The local Hydraulic shop is normally the place to go to sort this kind of thing. NFI if you have Enzed Or Pirtek or something similar.

After I get these from Fotoguzzi I will be shopping around to find local suppliers. Would be nice on a long trip to know who carries these bits in an emergency.

Unless there is a problem with your banjos, just cut the hoses off of them and put new ones on.  You need to use "transmission cooler hose" (high temp/moderate pressure) in the appropriate sizes.  The only hose under pressure is the one that comes from the pump to the top banjo on the side of the torque converter housing.  Pressure relief is ~28#

Otherwise, I see all the hoses in FG's pic.

Otherwise, you can measure the banjos and buy barbed banjos of the same size.

That's all I've got.
