New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
Had a weird intermittent start issue on a 1200 Sport that would only show up every few hundred tries, but once it failed all the on-offs and re-tries did not help. Push the button and nothing. Had done all the fixes, load test on battery positive, and still no joy. Only thing that seemed to work was disconnect the battery, wait a half hour and then it would start up like nothing happened. So I installed a remote start button under the seat that went straight to the starter solenoid (fused of course). Tested it out and bike would start up. Funny thing is once I installed that start button, only needed it once in the next 20,000 miles. took the button off before I traded the bike in (put the bike back to complete stock). I think it had to do with the replacement dash going out again. Don't really know for sure.
Darren, sounds like the SI fix wasnt working. I recently bought an 07 Griso, the wire from the relay to solenoid was woefully undersized, I replaced it with an 18 AWG the solenoid now operates 3 x fasterSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Darren The 1200 sport must be interlocked inside the ECU not the Dash, signal goes in pin 27 and out pin 1, I have never seen the ECU logic published for any Guzzi, I think that sucks. I would be quite interested because that's part of what I do for a crust. You say disconnecting the battery would fix it, I can see that causing a trip to reset.Good idea to wire in a bypass button. http://www.thisoldtractor.com/guzzi007/schematics/2007_Norge.gif
A way to just check the Batt and the starter is just hotwire it, 12V from batt to solenoid spade. It will turn over key on or not, you'll know if batt has enough poop or starter don't work. Many a Guzzi out there w/hotwire switch, just so you can get home.
Hey Flip, Any updates on your no start issues with your Breva?
