Guzzi Dealer in Tampa, FL
« on: August 28, 2019, 07:49:52 PM »
I was at the BMW/Aprilia/Ducati/Guzzi dealer (Euro Cycles of Tampa Bay) in Tampa, FL today. I've been in their shop before and they seem like a real nice group. That's certainly the impression they left on me after talking to their sales, parts and senior management people.

They only have a few V7's left and when they're gone, they're through with Moto Guzzi. If they wait that long. They said they lost a lot of money on every Guzzi they ever sold and that dealing with Piaggio is challenging to say the least. They claim they got two MGX-21's in when they first came out. One sold fairly quickly but the second one languished in the showroom for 3 years. They ended up selling it for only $9K to someone out of state. Yikes, that's a business model that doesn't work even once.

Hopefully someone else in the area will pick up the Moto Guzzi ball and try to advance the brand in the state.

Dang, that's a shame to hear! I'm headed to Tampa for a conference in October and was excited to check out their shop.

I've been dealing with them ever since they were a Triumph dealer back in 07 or 08 or so. They were a great dealership until the ownership changed about three or four years ago. Last year they fired their service manager and two of their service counter guys for some pretty shady crap that they were pulling on customers. Lying to customers, saying they performed certain services when they didn't, and charging for the services. I was one of those customers, but I caught them. Their new service manager called me about 6 months later and asked me why I didn't bring the bike back since they had an open ticket on it. He was a nice guy, and I told him why. He understood and said that was why they brought him and other new employees on, and why they got rid of the others. I thanked him for the call, I did appreciate it, and wished him good luck. I was glad to hear that they were trying, but I wont be back.
