New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
I'm confused. You want to replace the MG mounts with SW mounts? If so, consider the H&B C-Bow system as an alternative. You don't have to use H&B side cases. You can buy two https://www.motomachines.com/hepco-becker-c-bow-plastic-mold-mount and mount the side cases of your choice. I've done this on my RE and Norge, and will be doing it for my V7 III when it arrives.
Re mounting your own bags via the c-bow system.Any idea on the rated weight they can carry? Seems like most c-bow bags are on the smaller size.
There's rated weight approved by the OEM's lawyers and there's usable weight. If you're using cheap ABS plastic side cases, they will crack (they didn't break off) before the mounts do. BTDT. I bought better side cases (Givi E22N). I'd feel comfortable with any 40L or smaller side cases. One caveat: opposite the plastic mount, I place an oversize aluminum strengthener plate on the inside of the side case. I would do this even for aluminum cases. The C-Bow system is quite strong but lacking a bottom bracket it cantilevers the side case from the top only. From my perspective, this is an advantage because it provides a clean look when the side cases are dismounted and easy, simple mounting operation when you want side cases. For a top case I use the Givi E300N2 which holds my Bell full face helmet and is transferable across the RE, Norge and soon V7 III (except I'm giving the Norge to a nephew next weekend).
I have a MG luggage rack mounted on my Bobber. I’m looking at the SW Motech SLC mounts which give a wide choice of saddlebags to install. Has anyone used these mounts with the luggage rack? Opinion?
