The factory wiring set-up for the tach on my V7 is odd in that there is a hot lead direct from the battery (through a fuse) to the tach that is hot ALL THE TIME (key on or off). Of course mine has died & I discovered the odd wiring trying to put a new fuse in and having it fry on contact. So, a new tach is well over $500.00, (ouch), & all the used ones I've seen so far were damaged in the crashes that caused the bikes to be parted out. I'm on several Guzzi forums & remember seeing a posting identifying the electrical component inside the tach that has failed causing the direct short/dead tach. Apparently it is inexpensive & can be replaced if the tach housing can be opened & then resealed w/out breaking the glass etc. Unfortunately I didn't make note all this info at the time, and now can't find it. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Ronkom

PS the tach part # is 2D000294 and is used on the 2017-18-19 V7 dual gage models, and I believe on newer 850 models.
