But I think I understand the idea focused on the "yellow" wire mentioned in Kev's (and others) writeups. Looking at the #3 Ignition relay, I think the idea is to pull the yellow lead from the relay, cap it off (and use it for future fused accessories), and replace it at the relay with a fused wire connected directly to the battery (+).

That’s exactly right..

What you show on the attachment would be the “fix”.

Thanks for that confirmation, and for steering me to the (obvious, now...) start switch.

They are showing a 15 amp on the original circuit so I would stick with that for your added in-line fuse.

I did the fused-jumper "fix", and capped off the yellow wire and labeled it. What's that thingy that gets clipped to the battery cover (when installed)? It looks like a brake bleeder or air valve connection:

That’s the remote bleed nipple for the clutch.

What is shown there is half the 'fix'. There is more to it in some cases.  This just moved the problem for me, so I wired in a relay and button to fire the starter directly, as well.

2 threads that discuss the complete fix.  SI 1.0 and 2.0

After doing all this I replaced the new Batteries Plus battery with a new Yuasa and have never had SI since.   Of course.  But I'm prepared!

2000 Quota - black
2000 V11 Sport - green
2000 V11 Bassa - pearl white (the one that got away)
