Any issues with the 2015 V7 Special...?

My Grandson is on the hunt for a motorcycle,  he has been riding one of my Hawk GTs and his Dad's F3 Honda so he is getting  good riding experience in.

A 2015 V7 Special happened to pop up at a reasonable price and I will go have a look at it.

Wondering if any of you know of Any issues with these Guzzis...?

If replacing Breva and V50, that's the one I'd buy (2013/14 European model): last of the non-ABS, (proper) tucked in footpegs and cast wheels.
Lighter (logically/allegedly) and less bulky (cylinder head) than later models. More gutsy on fuel and less power though.
Perfect.
Cracking colour scheme on that one.

Many of the bikes in those years had a bar voltage regulator from the factory that allowed > 15 V. A few were bad though to damage batteries or ECUs. I blame mine on an early death of the original battery.

The original spark plug caps could arc and short if mishandled.

The OEM spark plug wires were sometimes held too close to the underside of the tank and might rub.

The clutch cables were sometimes run against the right cylinder jug where they could start to melt the housing.

All easily fixed.

I loved my 2015 and would probably still have it if Jim Hamlin hadn't put me on a V7-850 test ride at the National Rally.    I really didn't want the V7-850 to win me over, but it did, especially the longer legs that is has.  No regrets, but that V7 Special sure was a sweet bike. 

I had zero issues with mine.

I have a 2014, same bike, first-series V7. Five-speed, no ABS. Mine is showing 56,000mi, had a first-class first owner who dealt with the plug caps and voltage regulator, put Icon shocks on the bike, fork gaiters... I think those are the functional upgrades. I had to have the seals in the final drive replaced, for which operation I sent the final drive to Jim Hamlin in CT. Not a drop of leakage since. I would not worry at all about a 2015 V7, radguzzi. Fine basic motorcycle.

The stock map was horrible. A Beetle map fixes that. Jackhammerforks and pile driver rear shock. Both an easy fix for $500-600. Other than what Kev said, It's a great bike. Bring a cheap voltmeter and check the voltage at idle and 3000RPM. If undr 15 your fine.

I wouldn't worry about the map if it runs well.

Other then needing to warm it up after a cold start my 2013 runs perfectly.

Even Beetle suggested I just leave it alone.

Well, turns out that the V7 is a Stornello.   I went over for a peek at it today and noticed the high pipe, meaty rear tire, bash plate and headlight screen...  Rear case, double adjustable windscreen.

Cool.

Long story short, we bought it. 

My Grandson is now a third generation Guzzi owner in our family.  Does a guy proud.

They only had the Stonello in 2016. Somebody just converted a Stone to one.
Certainly nothing wrong with that other than the now tube tires.

Correct.  This is a Stornello.  A one year only 2016 V7II model.  Someone liked the Stornello exhaust system.

It is a V7 Special.  The pegs are a minimalist aftermarket design of some sort.  They don't look to be long distance comfy.

Well, that is odd given your handle... 

The top one is adjustable for wind buffeting I would guess.   It will be up to Jackson to decide whether he likes it or not.

Sweet bike, Rob. Always wanted a Guzzi for my daughter but she needs the 25" saddle on the Buell Blast to reach the ground.
