2017 V9 Bobber
« on: March 13, 2026, 07:03:50 PM »
While reading through the owners manual I saw that the Bobber has self cancelling turn signals. I knew the switch gear was different because there are no familiar "clicks" using them.

You haven't noticed it yet? Must be electronic in the dash.

No Steve, hadn't noticed it because I'm pretty habitual about cancelling the blinker. I'm guessing the logic is in the ECU.

Doesn't say anything in service manual about it.
Yes, in ECU then to dash. Maybe it's BS      I don't doubt it.  Is that bad english?

Almost seems like magic can-bus trickery. Is Guzzi electronics that sophisticated?

Cool, I didn't know that about them. Page 39 of the OM.

The turn indicators have a self-cancelling function that implements the following logic.
With the vehicle at standstill (speed = zero), the turn indicators continue flashing in-
definitely.
With the vehicle in motion, the turn signals self-cancel when one the two following
conditions is met:
• After a time (t) = 40 sec.
• After riding 500 m (0.31 mi)
If the vehicle speed reaches zero during this period, the time and distance counts are
reset and start again from zero when the vehicle starts moving once again.
Switching on the opposite side turn indicators without pressing the switch in the in-
termediate reset position causes both the time and distance counters to reset and
recommence from zero.

Sounds like it works on the same logic as the old HD signals (minus the lean angle input).

Time and distance was a Harley thing for a decade or two.

I didn’t notice it on mine either. Guess I developed good habits!…that I’d probably want to stick to, considering none of my other bikes have it.
