IIRC, the only issues were bubbling paint on the motor and a shifter pawl spring that breaks.

Yeah.  If it's a standard LeMans it will have a dual plate clutch.  If it's a Tenni, it came factory with a single plate clutch that could be an issue.

Bubbling paint on the cases was the biggest thing.  The shift return spring might break, if it hasn't already been replaced.  Easy fix.

Changing out the relays to Pyro Dan's relays would help the electrics.

Good bikes.

as said, engine paint.. carry a spare shifter spring and no worries! not ideal but can be fixed roadside.
my 2002 was fantastic and near bullet proof.
if it has been dropped check the frame to motor mounts up front (to the timing cover) case can break if hit hard.
also the tank can swell or deform, look at the area around the steering neck and make sure tank isn't rubbing the frame there.

If owner does wheelies on it the oil pump can be starved.. solution was a Roper plate, a kind of a windage tray to keep the oil in the sump. so, how was it ridden and what mileage?

oh and the driveshaft is a bitch to get to the front grease zirk.
