JJ's:

Yup! That's it! My first rest stop at Picacho Peak, the half way point between Tucson and Phoenix. It was 100+ degrees that day, so I needed to stop and hydrate!

JJ.. being overly rich will cover many fueling issues. It was a common "fix" back in the day. There is no reason you can't get that bike to do high 30s/low 40s no matter how hard you run it. If you aren't on it, the Centauro Owners Group (I assume it's still going) has many tips to fix that, but basically you need a Creedon chip, Stucci x over, free flowing exhaust, and a brass temp sensor holder. Once you have this, you'll find that you can turn the trim pot on the computer clockwise to lean it. This affects mixture up to around 5K rpm. Standing on the left side of the bike, the trim pot travels from about 8 to 4 o'clock. Don't break it. (!) Yours is probably at 8 or 9 now.

For me, a Creedon chip, Stucci crossover, brass temperature sensor holder, and nicely balanced TPS made it run perfectly with no hesitation or flat spots.

I forgot to add that I averaged 40 MPG while I had the bike, with these mods .....

By the way, that's MPG is great! My ol' '83 850 LM-III used to get 33-35 MPG in town and 36-38 MPG on the highway, depending on how are I flogged it!

What is the official Guzzi paint color name for the Centauro?  Ferrari used to call their cars in yellow..."Fly Yellow."

Someone recently asked me about the CMV (Current Market Value) of clean, low mileage, original, Centauros / Sports / GT's,  and I said $5,500-$6,500

Probably been a good little while since one actually changed hands for $6500.    $5000 - $5500 sounds more likely ....

The Italian color code for the Centauro GT Yellow is "Giallo Ginestra (Broom Yellow)".

Maybe that sounds more "manly" in Italian, like "Champion Yellow" or "Macho Yellow"?

Nope.  Broom is all we get ....
