Well, I am a Guzzi owner once again!
« on: September 20, 2015, 06:51:52 AM »
After a 3 year, 5 month from Guzzi-dom, (I sold my '83 850 Le Mans-III in April 2012), I have now acquired my 5th Moto Guzzi!

Yesterday, I drove to Tucson with a Guzzisti friend and picked up a yellow 1998 V10 Centauro GT!!!

Excellent condition, with <7K miles on it.   I rode it home from Tucson to Scottsdale and "floggied it" on I-10. What a "Hot Rod!"  I had ridden Centauro's before, but forgotten what a cool motor that is!  I will certainly have fun with this one!

I had a 98 British Racing Green Centauro and really liked the motor too.   Too bad for me that the ergos didn't work as well.   Mine had a habit of quitting when coming to a stop -- a Will Creedon chip and a PCIII at the time helped a lot.

Perhaps you'll be at the New Years gathering at Tortilla Flat this year?

Treat it nice and it will last you a long time. They don't make them anymore. BTW, yellow is the fastest color.  :thumb:

Good deal!   Should be a while before you have to deal with regular maintenance items like cam belts and drive shafts, or irregular maintenance items like the oil pump.

For me, a Creedon chip, Stucci crossover, brass temperature sensor holder, and nicely balanced TPS made it run perfectly with no hesitation or flat spots.

The Centauro is sensitive to tire choice and suspension adjustment; can be a "twitchy" handler until you've got the right combination for you and your riding style.

Hope you enjoy it!

Good find!  How hot was it on the freeway riding home?

Centauro Fans - I got bad news for you.

Yellow Centauro GTs all look exactly the same.    Until JJ posts up a picture of his identical one, you can do with this one ....

You never know.. after all it's a Guzzi.  My GT had the tailpiece, but sport chin fairing and fly screen.. however it was the much faster stealth anthracite color. Revenue Enhancement Officers never looked twice.

Some 10 or so years ago I saw a yellow beast that had the anthracite components replaced with white pieces from a red Centauro. Looked fantastic. I'll bet the red one looks good too.

Well, if it's a "red one" or a "white one", then it's not the "Yellow Centauro" that JJ has, is it?

My one (your one, too) is just a placeholder till the real pictures come in ....

@ Tom Short - Great photos from the Germany Guzzi rally thanks!  It was "silly hot" (100+ degrees) riding the Centauro home from Tucson to Scottsdale - - simply DREADFUL, but I made it!

@ boatdetective - I have owned 4 Guzzi's in my time, and this is my 5th, and should be a lot of fun.
"I don't always ride a Moto Guzzi...but when I do...it's a cool one!" (lol)

@ bpreynolds - They took off the photo posting icon and I cannot figure out how to post photos anymore! (Sorry!) :undecided: :embarrassed:  I am on facebook or you can send me an email at john.cerilli@yahoo.com and since I free-lance as a photo-journalaist, I will gladly forward you some cool shots.

@ Lannis - The former owner installed a potentiometer (TPS) and a cam position sensor and fine tuned it, and it ran flawlessly for 130+ miles on the freeway from Tucson to my house.  That's the good news...the bad news is that it only got 29 MPG, but I was cruising at 75-80 mph (and more....) so I did FLOG it on the way home.
