Better than "pretty nice" - that's beautiful! I bought the same bike, only reversed colors (silver with red), in '88 and kept until '98. My present '85 is the same color but is a "ratbike" compared to that one. Thanks for posting the link, helps me see how a few things are supposed to be on mine.

Saturday was finally the day for the first ride of my "resurrected" '85 K2. Beautiful afternoon, 80 miles of pure bliss on local backroads. Every bit as wonderful as I remembered my '86 being. Smooth, torquey, great handling and brakes, even seemed fairly comfortable. Very close ratio transmission, loves to rev - good thing because the power really doesn't hit until 5k rpms. Unlike my MZ, it will chug along in too high of a gear without getting jerky.

Yesterday, I rode it down to a car show and then blitzed a bunch of Northern VA backroads, 215 miles in all. Amazing in that setting. Can really keep up a good pace on twisty mountain roads. Drones along pretty happily on the highway as well. Turns out to be quite comfortable - no "numb butt" or "shatter hand", shoulders got a little sore though. Needs a small flyscreen/fairing. First tank returned 76 mpg!

After the first ride, still a work in progress:

I've never ridden either a 350 or a 500. Any difference in smoothness to go with presumably more power in the 500?
