Saturday was finally the day for the first ride of my "resurrected" '85 K2. Beautiful afternoon, 80 miles of pure bliss on local backroads. Every bit as wonderful as I remembered my '86 being. Smooth, torquey, great handling and brakes, even seemed fairly comfortable. Very close ratio transmission, loves to rev - good thing because the power really doesn't hit until 5k rpms. Unlike my MZ, it will chug along in too high of a gear without getting jerky.
Yesterday, I rode it down to a car show and then blitzed a bunch of Northern VA backroads, 215 miles in all. Amazing in that setting. Can really keep up a good pace on twisty mountain roads. Drones along pretty happily on the highway as well. Turns out to be quite comfortable - no "numb butt" or "shatter hand", shoulders got a little sore though. Needs a small flyscreen/fairing. First tank returned 76 mpg!
