michelin PR 4 on a 2013 norge

just installed a set of PR4's and boy are they nice. they put the stock pirelli angel's to shame. The stock tires had only 6k on them and plenty of tread left but not enough for my liking. about 1500 more miles left in them before the wear bars.

the michelin PR4 are so much better when tipping into a corner and the grip is awesome. The bike is really nimble now.versus a slug on the pirelli's.

Highly recommend these tires.

I've been using the Michelin Pilot Road 4 on the rear of my Stelvio, and have done 9,000 miles (still with sufficient remaining tread).  This tire isn't available as a front tire for the Stelvio, so for that I've been using the PR4-trail, which works well, too.

Neither the PR4 nor the PR4-trail can be considered an off-road tire (regardless of the name for the front), but for the occasional dirt road, they're good enough.  For road use (including rain) I'm well pleased.

Apart from originals, always had PR 2's, 3's and 4's . 8 years and 92,000 k, would not bother trying anything else

In all seriousness...they are a fantastic tire...especially confidence building in heavy rain...never slip at all...and sticky as honey on dry pavement.

You'll love them!

I love the PR's..  I am still running PR3's.  The only issue to PR's is the funny wear pattern at high mileage but boy to they stick and track nice.  Maybe the 4's overcame the high center wear pattern issue.

Has anyone been running PR3 and then switched to PR4?  I'd be glad to know if there's any differences you can feel.  I am a PR3 advocate, but think Michelin is replacing 3's with 4's.  I'm due for front and rear tires on the Sport, and unless the PR4s have some negatives when compared to the PR3, I'm sticking with Michelin.

Indeed...that's what I did...ran a full set of PR3's, and now well into a set of PR4's.  The center stripe on the 4's is harder in fact for longer touring than the 3's, but still nice and sticky once off center.  Ideal combination in my view.

I actually liked the Pirelli Angel GT/ST series on my Norge, though I always used the extended load model for the rear. I just switched to the PR4 GT a couple weeks back, and so far I find it has a much faster fall-in when turning. At this time of year, I won't get a chance to test the rain characteristics for a while.

Note that the PR4 does come in several versions; if you are putting them on a Norge, and will be doing more riding with a load, or at extended speed or temperature, I'd suggest getting the GT, which has a heavier carcass and is intended for sport-tourers that carry some weight (rider w passenger, rider with loaded luggage, or both).

I ran out PR4 rear on my Greenie after about 4k miles and replaced them with Dunlop Quals.  (Darren tells me I do jack rabbit starts)

I still have PR4 front and rear on my Bandit.  I dunno whut to tel ya    :thewife:

I'm certain most of you guys ride harder than I do.  But here's my experience with PR3 on the 1200 Sport (2v.) 
1st set @ 23095
2nd set @ 34963
3rd set @ 44027
4th set @ 54498
I'm at slightly over 62,000 now, and just stopped off at my indy dealer this afternoon and ordered a set of PR4s.  They call when they arrive, I dismount wheels, drive 'em over to their shop, buy some coffee for all around, and wait on them.  They come back nicely spin balanced.  Then its home for a remount.  Just like a lot of you do.

The only difference looking back 25 years ....... the Metzeler ME33 (front) and ME99 (rear) on my early K bikes were shot in 5000 miles.  This is so much nicer, to actually get almost a season, sometimes a full season, out of a set of tires.  And until they're almost at the end of life, they still handle fairly well.
I expect the PR4s to do as well.
