An Inch Away From Bliss - On The Stelvio

Thinking about a new Stelvio here but I am an inch too high in the low seat position to be happy.  Has anyone successfully taken an inch out of the Stelvio seat without too much loss of comfort?

I am not trying to be funny, Dave, but a Stelvio friend of mine with a similar problem took his boots to a shoe shop and they re-soled them with new lug soles almost an additional inch thicker.  They shimmed the soles!  He said it worked fine and made him look taller too!

He had to readjust his shift lever, though.

Don't feel too bad Dave Swanson, lots of blokes wish they had an extra inch and you've got one to give away !!!! Sheesh.....

Shave the front seat blocks down with a hack saw and it will lower the front of the seat a bit to make reaching the ground a bit easier.

Just curious Chris, if you only shaved the front blocks, would that not tip the seat in a way that it would keep running you into the tank? Can the backs be shaved also, or is there a clearance issue there?

My mind was backwards, thanks for catching that.
The rear needs shaved down to level out the seat, it helps keep you from sliding forward into the tank and makes it a bit easier to reach the ground.

I had Rocky at Bill Mayer Saddles redo mine and it is lower and more comfortable than the stock seat.  I highly recommend him!!

I've been riding a Tiger since '06, I got used to just putting one foot down early on, no biggie, your right foot should be on the brake pedal anyway. Touching with both feet is highly over rated. Most of the time I stop momentarily w/o taking a foot off the pegs anyway  *shrug*
