1400 oil pan question
« on: April 09, 2019, 09:00:43 PM »
I have a question about the removal of the oil pan on a 1400. Space seems really limited to do so because of close clearance of the frame. Anyone here removed one and is it possible for the oil pan to clear the frame? Thanks.

I’d think it possible but I haven’t tried. One has to ask why you would want to?

Stupidity Pete, Stupidity. The specs from Guzzi said 4.2whatever quarts. I didn't buy into that so I put 3.75qt. and would then check level. OVERFILLED greatly. I had a hand held pump and pumped some out. Needed to remove just a little more, clear rubber hose came off while removing oil second time and is down in motor. Drained oil. Used a lighted camera trick and located it, been fishing for two days just can't quite get to it. Walla hence the stupidity on my part and lesson learned and for semi trusting printed oil volume specs from Guzzi.

Did you pre fill the filter?  You could try a hose taped onto a shop vac.

Yes, Filter was pre filled. Shop vac is a great idea. Thanks! Great forum!
