I've known folks who did that engine swap on a Type I and on a Type II. The Type II was known around Albuquerque for embarrassing guys in muscle-cars on the Tijeras Canyon portion of I-40 (lots of steep pulls). The owner did my engine electrical on my '72. I always thought that the newer vans would work better, as they had front disc brakes!

I don't miss Clarkson for a minute.  In fact, Sabine was one of the regulars after they fired him. 

So far as the old TG, those stupid road trips and silly junk cars were just plain dumb and not funny.  It was a good show to dVR and then run through the crap.  But this one was a goody, it would scare me to death to ride with her and perhaps more so in that van.
