1972 Loop, EL-ignition and Tacho
« on: July 09, 2019, 02:14:37 PM »
Hey Guzzisti

This subject has probably been beaten to gravy a few times, but I am new to posting on the Forum so please bare with me. I have consulted my inquiry here and there but get no definitive replies.
Paul @ C5 and Peter Bond @ Gaugeman have been very helpful, however.

Moving on...
I have installed a C5 mulitpoint ignition (3 sparks on TDC) on my '72 Eldorado, which fired up the engine on first push, with whatever fuel in the carbs/hoses and no choke. Imagine my surprise.
Anyway, the C5 ignition has a Tacho output of; input-Volt (12V) to zero Volt, in square wave.
1. Can the Veglia handle this input or is it Current triggered?
2. Is this at all possible?
3. Will i need a PCB upgrade and use a coil signal instead?

Many thanks for any input
Casper
