Definitely a New York City patina, my idea of  "street fighter", hah!

Monza gets my ear up....

The photos appear to have been taken at Moto Borgotaro (?) which otherwise offers bikes on which the sales tax bill might be more than the price of the little Monza.  I suppose negotiations over $1K could be easy or tough in that environment, but it does appear to be overpriced.

You could build an enchanting story about that little wanker in Brooklyn. That area is loaded (9) with motorcycle shops. A few are known to favor Italian bikes. If you go back far enough there were Manfred Hecht & Amodeo Castillani / Raceco. To this day there is the world renowned Team Obsolete.

Check out  www.earinn.com for Euro Bike Night. Typically Tuesdays 6:30pm to 4am. Hey! It's THE CITY. The real one.
Don't be scared. This time of year it may be near empty.  ;)  R3~

I concur with Chuck.  This bike appears basically sound, but at its age (despite the low mileage shown on the odometer) seals and gaskets will cry out for replacement, and there are many potential upgrades easily available to improve performance and reliability if one is not obsessed with preserving strict stock configuration.  The seat, for example, is worn, repaired with black tape.  The significant hole in the fairing speaks of a crash, as does the well-scraped left silencer.  The bike is fitted with no crash bar or head guards, so the left cylinder head may have suffered some damage - the photo is not clear enough to ascertain whether or not this is the case.

In any event, the Monza in its current condition is overpriced, as Chuck points out.  At a more market-realistic price, however, it would make a great starting point for a thoughtful resto-mod that would bring it up to date and create a modernized, reliable bike that would entertain for years to come.

A V50II is a nice enough bike, but isn't a Monza.

I meant a V50III.  Meh- you have the little fairing, a different tank, and a  smaller pinion gear.  Longer gearing, but even less acceleration (from 30RWHP).

Neither of them are the fearsome Aero Lario!

I saved a Mark III, too. On paper, a Monza with more upright ergos. For whatever reason, the Monza is special. The end product is more than the sum of it's parts.. <shrug>
