EV seems to lean on centerstand
« on: July 27, 2019, 07:59:30 AM »
I rode to work today and someone made the comment “ your bikes leaning to the right on the centerstand..should it be straight up?” Good question! Let me ask?

The center stand is bent or failing, look at the curved part and compare sides. Sometimes they will crack and can be welded. Could be missing or incorrectly assembled hardware as well

It also could be that nothing ever sets level on a tile floor. Check it on a flat concrete floor.

It even leans worse in my garage. Might be the floor. Everything looks ok

It looks barely perceptible to me from the picture. If you have given it a good inspection, I probably wouldn't worry about it.
A tiny bit off in the tolerances translates to what looks like more as you go taller vertically. The leaning tower hasn't toppled yet. It's the Italian way.

Could be that one side goes back farther from wear on the stop piece and where the stop bracket hits the center stand . That is an easy fix with a welder once the parts are in your hot little hands. Be cautious if kids go near your bike.

I just crawled under there with the level and it looks good the floor might be slightly leaning it’s more pronounced in my garage. I don’t see any wear  on any mechanical parts.  Italian!

Stands can bend. One of mine did - to the left. Once off kilter, it very slowly got worse. Eventually, the LHS was resting on the arm, rather than the footpad. The bend was obvious once removed from the bike. As luck would have it, I called in at a dealer on one of my travels & they happened to have a bare stand, the offending central bit, surplus to requirements & otherwise unsaleable without all the bits & at a price that suited me right down to the ground (sic). I was always unsure how to straighten a bent one, & how to keep it from bending again - those among us who work with metal would surely know the tricks/techniques.

The over sized Barn-door aka windSHIELD with the addition of the BatWing maybe throwing the center of gravity off a bit.
