Motorcycle Leg Bags
« on: July 29, 2019, 06:20:22 PM »
So an add poped up on my WG feed advertising motorcycle bags, and I bit.  Specifically the "Leg bags".  Pretty cool idea.  Sale going on, might try it out.  Keeps stuff readily available.  Never been a tank bag kinda guy.

I bought a pair of saddle bags from Franco Cuoio. Super high quality stuff from Italy. Fast shipping and good communication. Anyhow, poking around on their site the other day I found this: https://www.francocuoio.it/prodotto/66-femoral-bag-black/ and, like you, I figure it may be an excellent way to not use a backpack or a tank bag but still carry some gear. Just FYI.

To big and heavy.  I've just taken to wearing cargo pants in California because you have to be able to get to your Toll Fee quickly.

For my trips out of state riding leathers or mesh have been fine because I haven't run into any tolls in Nevada, Utah, Oregon or Arizona.

Where do you ride in CA that requires you to pay tolls?

I only encounter one, that's in Los Angeles, and you can go to their online site afterwards and pay it.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

I've been riding and carrying stuff forever and this is the first time I've ever seen something called a "Leg Bag".

I assume it's a New Thing, cause if it wasn't, it would have been in "Honda of Mineola" adverts in 1971 "Cycle" magazine.

They sure do look bulky and clumsy to me.   I think they won't be a "thing" for long ...

I won't even ride with anything in my standard outfit (Dainese) pockets. Extra cargo leaves extra dents on your person when you crash. I just want to hit the pavement and slide free of encumbrances, snags and protrusions until my inertia is spent.

I agree.   A Leatherman would leave quite a mark  when you hit the pavement.

I've tried backpacks and messenger bags, but I've concluded to let the bike carry the load, and I'll control the bike ....

You don't have to use it while riding, I think it might be a nice holder for my Ruger.

I was looking at the ad link in the pub just now and one of my gay neighbors who was walking by glanced over, threw his arm around me and pointed at the leg bag with the chains and crap on it and said 'Divine!'. It just confirmed what I'd been thinking to myself!

Just bought one of these to try out...

https://americanlegendrider.com/collections/motorcycle-bags/products/bikers-high-quality-waist-leg-drop-bag

Pete, LMAO!

Cam,
Though I wouldn't buy one, I can see how it would be useful. There is a guy pictured next to a bike that has no place to carry things. Things like gloves, small tool kit/leatherman, ect.. When I was a kid riding my bicycle to go fishing, I used a small military surplus bag with a belt to carry my stuff. Sorta looked like one of these. My HD had no place to put the things like I mentioned. Something like this or that could be strapped somewhere and then carried easily with me would have been nice.  I really do hope you find it useful.

This is why I got one, didn’t think I could mention Glock here anymore?  Easy access WHILE I’m riding.  Is that manly enough for you tough guys?

I have seen some backpacks that lock to you body quite securely, have a lot of padding to protect your body and ride low enough to actually rest the majority of their weight on the seat behind you (if you're riding a sport bike with a bump up to the passenger seat). I tried one that one of my kids friends had. Short 10 mile ride around curvy access roads but could hardly tell it was there. I think it was Alpinestars, but can't say for sure now. Actually came across as well designed and very functional. I thought about getting one but the price threw me off. IIRC couple hundred dollars.

I'm more of a lockable top box on the bike kind of guy.
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

Got one for my wife last season... it can be a purse, or she can pull the leg straps out and lash it to her leg for riding.

Best part of hers is all the pockets zip close then use snaps to secure the zippers... she hasn't lost anything out of it to date.

It's like no one has heard of a tank bag.

And in fact, they probably haven't.  I've been riding with tank bags for 20 years and have three of them.  I remember a few years ago parking with a group of Harleys and pulling something out of my tank bag.   Those riders had never seen a tank bag before and thought it was an amazing invention.

Now that I write this, I've can't remember seeing a tank bag on a Harley or seeing one in the Motor Company's accessory catalog.
