Today's CNN has a piece on plant-based meat alternatives. Among other things it announces that Burger King will be offering the Impossible Whopper (based on Impossible Burger's plant-based meat substitute) nationwide as of August 08. This is following highly successful trials in St. Louis an other locations. I am anxious to try it. In an era of global climate change, population growth and increasing pressure on agriculture worldwide to provide food for earth's burgeoning population, I think plant-based meat alternatives will assume increasing importance as a substitute for the highly-inefficient and resource-intensive raising of animals for meat.https://www.cnn.com/videos/business/2019/08/02/plant-based-meat-explainer-orig.cnn-business
looking at photo, don't have a clue about the burgers but I like the bike.
Climate change has been continual and constant during the billions of years the Earth has existed. Normally, it works very slowly, taking thousands of years to effect a significant climate change. The difference with the current and near-term future climate change is that this one, powered by accumulating greenhouse gasses produced by industrialization and burning of fossil fuel (ie. anthropomorphic change factors), is happening at least 400 times faster than any documented climate change in the past.
I sat at the dinner table tonight with a couple eating In-N-Out burgers - we've been conditioned to think eating animal carcasses which go on to rot in our intestines ISN'T nasty. Very few people eating the SAD diet know meat is classified as a probable cause of cancer & processed meat is a group 1 carcinogen. Then there's the links to diabetes, hypertension, heart disease... burger drive-in nostalgia is cool & all but truth be told... we've been duped!
