Tool for removing bezel
« on: August 03, 2019, 08:20:11 PM »
I need to paint the sunbleached speedo needle for my Jackal, and so have to remove the bezel. I did a little dremel work to the tip of a paint-can lid remover and that works quite well. Take your time and walk it around the lip, prying as you go. True to the Guzzisiti spirit, it's cheap.

Nice. If you machine a cavity that just fits the bezel, it'll not deform easily as you go around it with the tool.

For those of us w/o a lathe/mill. I put some masking tape on the trim ring to protect it.

I filed down a paint can opener too.  And used a hose clamp around the cup.

There is a thread here with photos that I followed.

Could be that I saw your post and forgot.   Things like that happen these days.

Someone else did and had photos, I copied it.  The thread is maybe 8 years old?

thanks rich and lowryter!

i am going to try this. the tach on my t3 needs some cosmetic surgery and i have been hesitant to go in there because the look of a rippled, mangled bezel is truly a non-goodness.

use soap on the gasket to get it back on.

Personally I wouldn't do it just to touch up the needle, I'd only go into to fix the counterweight on the tach.  You might look for a glass shop just in case.
