Moto Rentals in Northern Italy - any feedback
« on: August 30, 2019, 11:36:43 AM »
Any feedback about renting from this outfit?

Looks like you can get a V85 now for rental if desired and plenty of other brands too for touring or day trips.  Location out of Milan to explore Northern Italy looks ideal as well...another option to consider.

Agostini is two trains and forty minutes north, in Mandello. I have no experience with the Milano rental.

Have not heard of this company before.  Mototouring is the best known bike rental place in Milano, located not far from the Crescenzago metro stop. I’ve rented from them twice but not in recent years.  I now buy insurance for my own bike for Mototouring, and get good service.

The biggest issue in bike rental is insurance, coverage included in the advertised rate is not uniform.  Another issue is limited versus unlimited mileage.  You have to do a little investigation to compare apples with apples.

What would be a typical outlay to rent a bike for say, one month ?
I’ve never done it so have no idea.

Let's say a non leap year 28 days at Euro (890 x 2) less 10% discount plus the charge for 5000 km at 0.25 per km = approx 2800 Euro plus I'm guessing some taxes, let's round it to 3K Euros.

Agostini's certainly an option too as Daniel suggests below, and it's a beautiful and easy ride by train up to Mandello for sure having done it with nice stops in Lecco and Bellagio along the way.  Just was curious if anyone had know or had experience with this outfit...seems like a broad spectrum of bikes besides Guzzi?

I'm guessing that anything over 2 weeks rental it probably makes sense to ship your own bike over...but I haven't done the math that closely yet.

I’ve done it six times and it’s always at or around AUD 3,500 return.
I am over there for 6-8 weeks so that’s a lot less than renting, but IMO the real benefit is the memories and history that your bike ingests.
Like this..

Or this..

And a hundred shots in between each of them.
I reckon if you leave the bike behind that you did the trip on, you leave half of the memories behind with it..
Based on the costs of renting, any more than a week or two over there and it’s a no brainer..
Take your own...!
