New Centauro issue ,clutch
« on: October 04, 2019, 05:56:56 PM »
I thought I was all set with the Centauro and getting ready to make it legal. So i just wanted to take the bike for a spin up the road and I don't have a friction zone with the clutch, I did two weeks ago. What I mean is as soon as I let some pressure off the cultch, we are talking just easing up on the lever it engages, I gave it more freeplay at the lever to see act would happen and result was the same. It was fine, maybe  a little abrupt when I first rode it but not bad. So what could have happen in two weeks while parked?

Started poking around and I have a leaky seal ,smells like gear lube, its rusty looking. I have pulled a few Tonti frame gear boxes, this should be a new experience and not one I wanted. Oh well it has been sitting for 16 years.

Try replacing the clutch pushrod oil seals first. It may not work but there again it might!

As for the clutch weirdness I seem to remember that Centy's have a slightly odd clutch cable and routing is super-important to get it to a.) Function well. And b.) Not require an absolutely Herculean pull that means you end up with a left arm like a Fiddler crab!

Maybe you need another Robin in the garage to scare the Centauro into action...

Small ponies encouraging the big one...

Two robins is enough! And neither wants to run at the moment. Also my  EV is making expensive noise from the rear end.Andthe oil filter cover on the XT broke the tab for the bolt. Almost makes me want to sell all the old stuff and buy something newer.

How about an "Adult-Owned", 2005 Kawasaki 250 Ninja? Like new, 5,000-miles-ish, Owner's Manual with Records, 2 Original keys, not a mark on it. . Beautiful bike! It's in the back of the pickup, heading to Hershey, PA for the Annual AACA National Meet, tomorrow. It could be the best $1,500 you ever spent!
