I borrowed the idea from a you tube video.I used antifreeze for the color. I had to buy two Corona beers for the bottles. I tried to drink it but it was vile to me.Cost me $4.I used Barge brand rubber cement to seal the rubber plugs.  thanks

Thanks, Gearman. I am going to build one, its better than the setup I currently have using only tubing with ATF inside.
I think I will pour the Corona contents into the sink as well. It is vile stuff. We call it "skunk beer"! LOL.
below is a link to the you tube video in case anyone is interested.

If anyone is interested, I can put you in touch with the owner of this bike. It's a 76 with 40K miles. Very clean and well sorted from what I understand. Not my bike, no benifit to me other than helping a fellow addict and dealer .....

There is a very clean and nicely reinforced Convert flywheel on Guzzi Facebook at the moment, for 75 bucks shipping included. I have no interest in the sale, just passing the info along   https://www.facebook.com/groups/898627433562137/

JayDee,
So is that how the early flywheels are typically reinforced...?  I am an admitted novice to the Convert world so I need to reply on good advice.

The seller is Aldo, all around good guy.  I may have to give him a call.

Thanks,
Rob

76 V1000 Convert barn find status.

Great news, compression checks out well on both cylinders, nice blue spark from the Dyna III, lights work...

The compression check was a little weird, the throttle cables are stuck so I could not open the throttles but I think it is a good reading.

We can move forward now. Carbs come off and into the ultrasonic tub. Fluid changes, parts order for brake rebuilds, carb kits, hoses and cables going out.

Getting excited...!

Hope so giusto,
I too would have installed an SP fairing on this one if the current Vetter was not on it.  The wiring to install the Vetter and all that would be a pain so it stays.

I have had three or four SPs and that fairing works well.

Good looking rig there sir,
Rob

76 V1000 Convert barn find status.

How much of a "barn find" was this bike? Looks waaaaay better than something neglected in a barn (I keep thinking of something with chicken poop on it and mice nests in the airbox).

I keep hoping one day I stumble across one so wonderfully "neglected". Can't wait for your first ride report! That seat alone with all that room to move will make you fall in love with it.

It was stored in a dry garage since 1991 as near as I can tell, last registration.  No chicken poop or rodent remains thankfully.  So far it seems to be a good candidate for going through.

That is gorgeous... a very capable looking machine.   I kinda wish the Convert had the Cali dash but I'll get over it.

Cheers,

Still have the modded stamped flywheel for sale if interested. I put a heavy cast one in the Convert that I sold, so this is just gathering dust at this point.  You'll like the Convert, my wife hated me for selling it because she said it was the most comfortable motorcycle I've ever owned. :thewife:
