As a drummer myself, I know the dedication he had to put forth to achieve the level of perfection he showed.
RIP Neil

My favourite band since 1983; hence my screen name.

I'll be raising a glass tonight.

Oh no. RIP Neil.

My kids make fun of me for being a Rush fan. I'm saddened by this news.

Air drummers will be devastated.

He wrote a fabulous book about riding between shows. (I think)

Dang it, from brain cancer. ...

what the heck is going on with all of these glioblastomas. i know 3 people who have/had them. 20 years ago we never heard about them. is it cell phone use or...what?

Sad. I loved them back in the day. I challenge anyone to listen to YYZ and not be blown away.

Another legend has left us. Super talented with the sticks.

I always felt I had a connection with him even though I never met him as he was from my home town, St.Catharines. I remember his first band, JR Flood playing local venues. Read all his books, well worth the read. Great drummer and great rider with an uncompromising attitude. Taken from us way too early!!!! RIP

RIP for the "Ghost Rider" (Travels on the Healing Road). Famous for riding his GS between shows.

Raise a glass of The Macallan for Neal.

A humorous piece done for tv that aired in 2007. 6 minutes. Bit of bike content.

What did the drummer get on his I.Q. test?.....

....Drool!

This is very sad. He was a great musician, and an outstanding human being.

Good book. Daughter died in a car crash driving to college. Wife never recovered & died of cancer in about a yr. Hence, he called a time out, bought the bike, cleared his head, wrote the book then rejoined Rush.

A Hundred Miles Before Breakfast - The Beautiful Life Of Rush Drummer And Motorcyclist Neil Peart

Ghost Rider is just a good book. I was garageband drummer, drink scotch and ride motorcycles, so I could relate to much. It was marvelous bittersweet story. We can all feel pain and experience loneliness whether you're a rock star or retired guy. It also brought to life the winter in Canada in a surprisingly great point of view. Got to see the band after reading it.

Highly recommended book.

Very sad, I loved Rush, and as a newbie drummer looked at Peart as one of my inspirations with Carey and Harrison...

A good article about him from the AMA magazine, from 2009:

RIP Neal.......Rush was the very first rock concert I went to.......back around 1973 - 74. They were on the bill opening up for Canned Heat and Steppenwolf. Rush blew the other two bands off the stage. Sorry to say I have not seen them live since.

Still hard to believe. At the moment it is really hard to watch this but I can recommend the documentaries:

One of my favorite bands of all time. I listen to at least one Rush song daily. RIP, Neil.
