My wonderful wife of 41 years passed away peacefully at home this morning.  Some of you know that she had a  long 30+ year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.  The battle she waged so bravely and with amazing grace is now over.  Never miss an opportunity to say I love you to those you love.  I will miss kissing her forehead and telling her so tomorrow.   I was truly blessed to be by her side during her struggle.   Being the caregiver for one that you love can bring many unforeseen blessings.

Dave I'm so sorry to hear this my prayers for you and your family, You are a good man to stand by your wife. Its hard to become a caregiver for your wife when she is sick. Its a very different role for us when we transition to that. When i took care of Ginger it was a blessing  and hard at times but like you was glad to be there next to her
Good Luck my friend.

Dave very sorry to hear about your life partners passing. Sharing 41 years together is certainly a testament of your love. Being the primary care giver, watching and helping that partner pass supported by your love qualifies you for saint hood. At least in my book. Good luck with your transition to the next phase.

I am often a man of too many words, but, as are so many when reading such news, am now at a loss for the right ones.

I will say, Dave, that your love, kindness, and dedication over the past many years have earned you not only Gayle’s own love for you, but the respect and awe of all who read of your devotion to your lost darling.  We will all no doubt hold our loved ones tighter tonight and beyond because of your poignant post.

Please accept our admiration and prayers.  We have made a contribution in to your wife's memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, https://www.nationalmssociety.org

I find solace that I was able to fulfill my promise that she could count on me to care for her to the end.   Being there for someone who really needs you is an honor and a rare privilege.  I miss her very much but know it would only be selfish to wish she could still be with us.

Body is gone but the spirit lives on.. I  have been in the long term care giving role too.. Only people that have been there, really know what it takes. Funny thing, we are the ones that are blessed to be able help where we can. It brings a lot of what is truly important in our lives, and others.

Time to take care of yourself, and enjoy every moment you have left. It's exactly what your loved one would of wanted for you..

Many of your thoughts are very similar to what I thought about at that time in my life.. You are totally on the right track .(IMO)

Dave,

You have the condolences of my family and me. My wife also has MS and we have been together for 40 years. She is fighting the good fight and I will be with her as long as I breathe. There really aren't any words to express how this touches me. May she rest in peace and may you continue on in peace.

Thanks again guys.

We had Gayle's visitation and service on 1/29. The outpouring of love and support for Gayle and my family was beyond amazing. My son, daughter and myself gave eulogies along with a few close family friends. The feedback received by those that attended has been very heartfelt. It was a great tribute to a life well lived in spite of all her challenges.
