He never fails to impress.  Nice to see a mere mortal doing work like this, then standing on an old end table to kickstart it on his own.  Very, very cool.

Thanks for posting, Charlie.

Out of a small shop a little bigger than a single stall garage, only pretty basic machine tools too.  :thumb: epic.

Brilliant!

I got a chance to look at his V8, V12, and 5-cylinder two stroke at Barber back in October.  All look like they could've been factory built.
He is an amazing machinist.

Amazing as always. Hoe Alan hand saws the crank cases, hand files then welds them up is incredible.

Would like to know how the firing intervals are.
Every 180 deg. for the standard 4 cyl 4 stroke. Interesting to know if he re phased the crank to 120 deg. intervals or has the two added cylinders firing simultaneously with two existing ones. Granted, it did not have the pipes on, but it did not sound like a CBX or Z 1300.
I cannot fail but be astonished at how “factory” it looks..

I think he said 120 degree intervals in response to that question on one of his Facebook posts.

Ok mate.
You’d expect nothing less.
Did he mention if he had new camshafts made, or further wizardry in that regard ?
You’d think that altering the existing one would require lengthening and re phasing so the lobes would be in time.
The consequences of a failure there would not bear thinking about..

Altered originals. From his Facebook page:

This afternoon I’ve been cutting up camshafts, accurately drilling and boring holes for a tight interferance fit with H2 gudgen pins. Once all mating holes are finish bored the cam lobes will be re timed for the six cylinder engine, pressed together and welded.

Allen works quickly: he started building this engine on December 19th!

However I suspect there might of been considerable planning and calculations that would of gone on well before that.

According to Allen, nothing written down, all done in his head.

Millyard has done some amazing builds.  Seems that thing is more popular in the UK than here.  I've seen some neat Yamaha RD 600 Air cooled triples and RZ 550 water cooled triples.
