Our local BMW store hosted a get-together last nite that featured barbecue and a showing of the movie mentioned.
First things first - my first time in a BMW dealership in quite some time. Nothing tempting thank you.
Second - if you think the Guzzi demographics are OLD, you should have been here last nite. And everyone thinks their going to take those GS's on THAT trail? LOL.
Now - let me admit - I will NOT be doing any Stage 4 trails as in the movie. I have full respect for the people that did, especially the delightful young lady who was not only small but rode - and picked up - her 1200 GS, all with a smile on her face!
The gravel roads and two lanes and the places they went - right on. Those will go on the short list. But the stage 4 trails laden with all manner of downed trees, mud, water, loose gravel and larger boulders? NO WAY. Even these great riders' feet came off the pegs several times, and I saw a lot of folks picking up their big bikes. Not even on a 250 will I be doing these - I've had enough broken bones thanks. But I DO admire their spirit.
Maybe if I was 30. But you'd better be in awesome shape.
Fun movie to watch, and the site is interesting. Perhaps one could modify the routes to eliminate the Stage 4 trails and still get a decent dose of the beauty that is off the beaten path...
